Dear Laura,

Oct 07, 1975 11:51

I don't have an answer for you yet - I just got your letter, actually - but I wanted to get some kind of response out to you right away.

I will have to speak to some people and get permission from the Headmaster, as generally students only leave the grounds during the term for family emergencies or serious illnesses...but sometimes the Headmaster does strange things, so maybe he'll let me go to your ball with you.

You didn't really explain, though, why you're not going with one of the boys from the other school, or why you don't just go by yourself so you're free for anyone you might fancy. It won't change my answer, but call me curious, as you're a lovely girl and I can't imagine you'd be pressed for a date! Er, not that I'm suggesting that you're, er...well just what I said.

Anyway, I'm going to wrap this letter up and send it out to you, then get started on getting permission. But it might take a couple days, so don't get worried!

Sincerely,
