Three drabbles for
solitaire3 because I didn't realise that you had to write three different pieces for the three prompts. One per prompt and you can't combine them like I did. Oops.
Title: Dark Distant Place
Rating: G
Fandom: Parenthood
Characters: Crosby, Adam
Warnings: Angst, slightly OOC Crosby
Author's Notes: I'm tired, so there's nothing witty here.
Prompt: Of silver and gold at
solitaire3 Progress: 1/1 complete
Summary: Adam watches Crosby and feels helpless.
The moon casts a silvery glow over everything. It hits the gold in Crosby's hair and casts an ethereal light over him. Adam stares, taken aback at how fragile Crosby looks at the moment. It's wrong; Crosby shouldn't look like this. He was supposed to be carefree and happy-go-lucky. Worry and stress isn't becoming on him. He wants to comfort his brother, take away the pain, but there's nothing to say. Nothing he can do and he's never felt so powerless before and he hates it. He turns away from Crosby, tears welling up. There is nothing he can do.
Title: Help Me Help You
Rating: G
Fandom: Parenthood
Characters: Adam, Crosby
Warnings: Angst, slightly OOC Crosby
Author's Notes: Nothing witty.
Prompt: Knights and rooks at
solitaire3 Progress: 1/1 complete
Summary: Adam knows that there's something wrong when Crosby wants to play chess.
Crosby only brings out the chess set when there's something bothering him. Adam obliges him and plays, asking no questions as he can sense that Crosby wants to lose himself in the movements of knights and rooks. There's something calming about playing chess in silence, but even Adam can feel the underlying tension. He doesn't press for details, knowing that Crosby will talk when he wants to. The clink of the pieces against the board is the only sound for so long that Adam is startled when Crosby clears his throat. He isn't sure how to force the words out.
Title: You're In Ruins
Rating: PG
Fandom: Parenthood
Pairing: Mentions of Crosby/Katie
Characters: Adam, Crosby, Jabbar, Jasmine
Warnings: Het, angst
Spoilers: Episode five
Author's Notes: Tired! Bed time now.
Prompt: Eloquent gloom at
solitaire3 Progress: 1/1 complete
Summary: Adam finally finds out what's troubling his brother.
There's an eloquent gloom about Crosby and Adam is surprised by his word choice. He isn't one for poetry, but the phrase fits Crosby anyway, so he lets it go. Apparently, Katie left him when she found out about Jabbar and Jasmine is refusing to let him see his son after they have had a huge fight about the paternity test. His life is in ruins and he can't fix anything. It's all his fault anyway, maybe if he weren't so stupid.... Adam lets him rant and rage, comforting him when he needs it most. There's nothing that he can do.
