Top 5 ship meme

I have nothing useful to say, but it's post something or go to work for the 2 hour stint of overtime I'm to do today...

So have a meme.

Top 5 ships in any fandom: (also known as the 'quick, find the pattern' meme )
In reverse order of preference --

5. Yohji / Aya, Weiss Kreuz.

Weiss Kreuz was the first fandom I really fell for the fanfic on (the show itself is pretty awful). Yohji is, on the surface, a fun-loving and free playboy, although being a florist-by-day-assassin-by-night, he naturally has wells of hidden pain. Aya is all seriousness - actually rather byronic. They're an obvious pairing. I eventually fell away from the fandom for several reasons, but primarily because there wasn't very much fic for it - I'd read my way through what I could find, and not much new was being posted. But - oh, the possibilities for good fic in this fandom are enormous.

*also to be noted is the pairing crawford/shuldich, which really probably ties Aya/Yohji in my heart. They're the bad guys, and personality wise they mirror Aya/Yohji fairly well (fun vs. serious), just with more D/s elements and torture possibilities thrown in.

**Aya's the redhead, Yohji's the blond behind him.

4. Ronon/Rodney - Stargate Atlantis

I pretty much just started reading SGA fic, after many years of bironic  trying to persuade me to watch the show. Ronon was, exactly as his name implies, a wandering warrior - on the run from the wraith until the SGA folks found him. He speaks quietly and carries a big gun (no pun intended) -- not inclined really to speak unless he has something to say. Rodney, the lead scientist, never shuts up. He talks constantly, and he's a muddled mess of insecurities coupled with vanity. I identify with his character in ways that make me rather uncomfortable, actually. This pairing might be totally selfish of me - there are other pairings in the fandom that make more sense. It might be that I only like the idea of these two because I identify so closely with Rodney and think Ronon is by far the sexiest thing on two legs most appealing.  But if that's the case, so be it. Here the cast members are being goofy on set - aren't they adorable : D

*I really, really wish there was more fic of this pairing

3. Holmes / Watson

I've seen the new holmes now and can safely say I still prefer Jeremy Brett's portrayal by far. However, the pairing goes for any version. Holmes and watson are just perfect for each other. I adore the way they play off of and support each other.  Plus there's that veneer of victorian repression over them -- and all those buttons and layers between them, which is delicious.

2. Shawn / Lassiter  - Psych

In Psych, the obvious pairing is Shawn / Gus. They're best friends and they're utterly adorable together. In fact, they're so adorable together that for years I shipped them without feeling the need to actually read any fic (i did occasionally, though) because it's all there, in the show.  Then dracofiend  introduced me to the idea of Shawn/lassiter and I was hooked (I hadn't even *liked* lassiter all that much). The carefree 'psychic' with family/emotional issues and the too-serious detective with an attitude problem? Yes, please. These two make sense together, but in a way that takes work - they'd have to really want to be together, to make the effort, in order to stay together, and I think that appeals to me. I also love the malleability of the characters' psyches -- I've read fic where shawn has been submissive to lassiter and vice versa, and both stories made it work.

1. Snape/Harry -HP

I'm sure you're all shocked at this one. I fell into snape/harry years ago and at this point, I don't have any plans to stop. There might be weeks when I step away, but I always come back. There's so much you can do with these characters - so many ways to interprit them and bring them together, that I trust there will always be new fic out there somewhere. I love that there is always tension between them of some kind or another. I think they can fit together, psychologically, whether you take the angle of similar pasts, or opposites attracting. They remind me a bit of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy - opposites on the surface, but similar underneath.

You see? No patterns here. It's not like I gravitate to the exact same pairing in every fandom or anything. nope. Totally varied in my preferences, that's me.
