So I found out about a week too late that Pearl Jam is releasing Into The Wild as an LP. I missed my shot to get it but its supposed to be released in record stores on the 29th. With Nicole's help I found a place in red bank that said they would order it for me but we'll see how that goes. In any case, I wanted to go to NYC to try to find it b/c as Edved said at my MSG03 concert "here's to NYC's record stores because they’re the best in the world." *spin the black circle*
So maybe with any kind of luck (and maybe some praying and offerings to the vinyl gods of PearlJamology), I will come across it and it will be in my possession some time next week. This will be my first ever PJ vinyl release if I can score it. My 8 xmas singles don't count ;)
It IS into the wild after all.
BY THE WAY< you Oscar fuckers- why the snub on Into the Wild. Best film editing? What the fuck is that shit?
At least Hal Holbrook got best supporting actor- he deserves it. But that movie more than deserved a best film nod.
Twatwaffles.
On a completely unrelated note, yesterday was January 23rd- that’s the 1 year deathiversary of the last time I saw the House. Yep, that day last year my ass was carefully measuring each window, each stretch of porch, each wide open span, each doorway. You may remember that I was there on that day because on January 23rd, 2004- the 3rd time ever that I went- I heard the distinct sound of footsteps on the back porch when there was no one there. I was standing in the back yard- about 20 feet away from the house- and heard several footsteps walking heavily across the wood porch and shuffling the leaves that lay dried up around. I turned to look abruptly- no one. When I turned to walk further away I head them again and again- no one there. So back I went on January 23rd 2007. While on the back porch measuring the back door, I heard STOMP STOMP STOMP come right up behind me- I could feel someone standing there, and I was afraid it was someone who was going to attack me. I was standing, alone, on this porch, at 9 at night. Who knows who is walking by and could have seen me? I turned- quite scared- no one there. I called the house spirits on it, too. "Well hello again.. just measuring..." and went back to my business. As soon as I turned to continue my measurements- STOMP STOMP STOMP up behind me again. I felt again like someone was standing right behind me. Seriously- close your eyes and have someone walk up and stop directly behind you- so close as to juuuust touch you- you know that feeling- you know they are there w/o seeing them- that’s what I felt.
But again I turned- no one there.
So, as I feel that shall become my House Holiday, I took the day off yesterday and once nighttime began I took my DVR and headed on up. For those of you who don't watch ghost hunters- you can use a DVR device to catch disembodied sounds- sounds the ear can't hear that don't belong to anything occurring at the time the recording was made. So, as I suspected from my past 2 Jan 23rds that this was a residual haunt which may actually still be there.
Although, there was also an intelligent haunt at the House whom I also hoped was still around despite the current emptiness of the property.
I packed up me, myself, and my DVR and headed on up, and had a seat right at the base of the large pine tree that was at the front and center of the house. Kind of. This put me about even with where the basement stairs were.
I started off the night introducing my DVR and that if they had anything to say, to say it into this device in my hand. I was careful to mention passing cars and any sound that I made by shifting or flipping pages. I then asked questions about all of the owners of the property. At one point I was asking about the Erlanger’s who lived there after Henry Billings moved out. I said, "If I am mis pronouncing then say something" and just after that you hear a whistle- 3 notes like someone is whistling a song. Or correcting how I say the name. I was saying it ERlanger but if you listen to the whistler it would be ERlangER. Unfortunately because this isn’t something I could hear at the time, I couldn’t direct more questions toward it to see if I got further responses. But, YAY! I got someone's voice from the house! woo hoooo!!!
So after a while I decided to get up and go sit on the other tree, which was leaning out from the back porch where I heard said steps. At some point I started talking out loud about all the memories I had there- the pictures, the tattoo story, and then the porch stories. During the porch story you can hear 2 sounds like knocking on wood, then a min later another one of those sounds. So- let me make this clear-
EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NOTHING BUT A DIRT PATCH NOW, I STILL GOT SOUNDS LIKE SOMONE KNOCKING ON FLAT WOOD LIKE THAT WHICH WAS ON THE PORCH. These sounds were NOT heard by me- I was sitting on a tree, and even when you smack a tree, it makes a dull thud as your hand absorbs the force of it b/c trees don't move. Anyway I'm sure you know the difference between knocking a tree and knocking a thin board. Plus, I was not smacking the tree. I was sitting on it trying not to fall into the dirt, using one hand to hold the DVR and the other to hold my coat around my leg b/c it was like 28º out.
So, there you go- HOLY CRAP! I GOT HOUSE GHOST SOUNDS! They talked to me!... well... not really. But- there were sounds that I recorded!
On to yet other stuff.
1) Kiwi gummies from Japan are REALLY GOOD. omg I love them.
2) My dad is home b/c he was misled into thinking he'd be home every 2 weeks. He was told by someone who actually works for the company that you'd be off every two weeks, but that it might be in Alaska for all anyone knew which means he'd be home every two weeks or every months. Or every two years for all anyone knew. That and some other stuff led him to believe that the company was not for him.
3) I got a weird chair to reupholster from my next-door neighbor. It's weird. haha
4) I've been rocking Battle For Middle Earth on War of the Ring mode, but for some reason once I did it deleted all of Connor's stats. WTF? I won like 4 awards with him not I have to re-win them.
5) Since my dad still doesn’t have a job, I think I won't be able to go to Peter's Valley this year. My money needs to go more toward buying food for the house and such. Which doesn't stop me from buying things like....
6) Val Kilmer finally released his book and CD. After how many years now? You can get the set, autographed, for $50. Sweetness. It’s mine. MINE MINE MINE.
7) School started again. I am not that impressed.
8) Work has been GREULING. I’m there ALL THE TIME and I have no time to do anything. Fucking fuckers. They kicked out 4 people and have so far replaced them with- no one. Good job, you stupid fucking wankers. Bite me.
And with that, I’m going in my room and probably watching Roar or something. Derf.
