Yesterday I grabbed two people from TransLondon and realised a long held dream to take them out to Cliveden, a National Trust property in between the M4 and M40, just outside London. This was something I'd tried to plan since March, but the weather proved... not to be cooperative.
We had lunch in the cafe built into the Orangery, which was a beautiful place to sit in the summer, and then walked it off by walking through the woods to the Thames, and then ascending back up from the Thames to the formal gardens. There we lounged on the lawn and just chatted for a while before heading back out.
I drove them home, where I had a bit of an incident and completely misread the road layout of the sliproad and nearly caused an accident, which was not fun... But otherwise the driving was uneventful and I took it slow.
Today, I slept in, feeling a bit tired after all the exertion yesterday. Then I got going on doing some job hunting. I've been trying to get a bit more serious about it in the last couple of weeks due to a variety of reasons that are too long to go into now. But so far I have four different CVs, each for a different occupation. I'm looking for teaching, caring and customer service jobs. I also did an IT one, since that's what my previous generic CV was heavily balanced towards and it was a good exercise, but I don't think I'll be applying for any IT jobs.
I managed to get a second reference today as well, and I have applied to do some tutoring, which might be good experience for teaching. If the shortage of physics people is as acute as I think it is, I should stand a good chance, so I'm positive, but it remains to be seen.
