a brief example of how not to win friends and influence people

Paraphrased:

Random Person Emailing Me: Hi, I'm putting together a project and would like to know if you'd be willing to sell me $old_domain.

Me: Thanks, but I'm not interested in selling. Good luck with your project!

Person: Well, okay, it's just that the site looks abandoned and seems like a waste.

Me: ...wow, way to make sure I'll never sell the domain to you now. It's not abandoned, it's an archive. Fuckhead.

Person: Wow, what was that about? I only said it looked abandoned, since it hasn't been updated in so long!

Me: Pro tip, the way to get someone to do you a favor is not to come in slinging insults around; obviously the domain's not abandoned, since I renew it every year. Pro tip #2: some people actually run things other than webservers on domains.

(Okay, yeah, I was more than a little bit bitchy -- but he really got on my nerves. Insults and entitlewhoring are not a good way to approach me.)
