incardineCharacter Name: Akemi "Tsurugi" Takenaka
Canon: Yakuza Theatre
Dogoda or Dozaro? Dozaro
Character Info: (Copypasta'd from her Planeocracy app until a certain point.)
Born to Syndicate CEO Teru Takenaka and CFO Miharu Takenaka, Akemi Takenaka never lacked for attention from her parents, or things to do with the (unknowst to her, often less than well-gotten). However, at her father's insistence, she attended an ordinary, local public school, a legal cover-name being established to ensure she was not a target of the Yakuza (already considered a threat to the Syndicate's planned growth).
Akemi quickly developed many friendships at Hibiya High (under the assumed last name of "Nakamura") - including one with a certain underclassman named Kazumi Hagino. Completely unaware of her father's corporate actions against the Hagino-gumi, and her own nature as the daughter of the enemy CEO successfully hidden even from Ryou Kagami, Akemi attempted to reach out to Kazumi, concerned for the girl's nature, which had become somewhat shut-in due to others fearing her. The efforts were a little successful, the girls being a fair bit more similar than either would ever have a chance to know, although Akemi's primary hobbies of Kendo and slight obsessiveness towards her studies meant the two never fully connected.
By her Senior Year, was class president (having successfully talked Kazumi onto the student council - only to find her removed due to poor attendance), as well as being captain of the Kendo club. (She also attempted to get Ryouko Kagami, soon after her arrival at Hibiya, to join, but was unsuccessful.) She had just received an admission notice to a first-string university, and her parents hoped to see her eventually become a successful executive of a purely-legitimate corporation - or the Syndicate itself.
In particular, Teru was starting to grow concerned over the balance of power within the Syndicate - powerful interests within the group's less-legitimate operations had been starting to become a problem, to the point where he was actively pondering starting to take actions against his own organization to bring it back in line. He managed to keep these opinions a secret, fortunately... But then, during a standard medical exam, it was determined that Akemi was a perfect candidate for one of the Syndicate's nastier pieces of work - one that had just recently begun to be deployed against the Hagino-gumi...
The Enhancement project could revive dead women (the Syndicate never thought to test it on any men - a rogue scientist later discovered that it switched their gender to female, to Ryou(ko) Kagami's dismay), granting them significant enhancements over ordinary humans - in particular, exceptional speed and strength. Combined with high-powered brainwashing, the result was ideal soldiers for facing all manner of threats - or suppressing them, as the Hagino-gumi soon discovered when the Enhanced were deployed against them. (The only clue Akemi had of any of this, was that Kazumi's father had been slain by an unknown agent, and that Kazumi was even more spotty in her attendance than usual as a result. Kazumi never mentioned that the Syndicate was responsible.)
The Science Division behind the Syndicate's Enhancement projects knew that Teru was dissatisfied with their actions, which, while successful, involved excessive force against the Yakuza groups, and was rapidly increasing the risks that the Syndicate's more legitimate operations would become targets - something Teru found particularly problematic. Knowing that Akemi would never normally be an option for Enhancement, but that having her could be very, very useful for keeping Teru and Miharu off of their backs, they concocted their plan.
Akemi Takenaka's real name was "accidentally" printed in the program books at her graduation. That very night, on her way home "Yakuza" agents moved to capture her, intent on using her as a bargaining chip against the Syndicate's leader. Akemi's resistance, however, was all too quickly met with violent response, resulting in her being shot several times. "Luckily", several Syndicate agents rescued her "before her death", and brought her to the closest hospital - which so happened to be Syndicate-run, and the base of the laboratory division in question.
Akemi was actually thoroughly dead by the time she had arrived at the hospital. Quietly reporting to Teru, the science division easily convinced him to let his dear daughter be Enhanced. They promised that the standard procedure of brainwashing would be thoroughly skipped - after all, the hospital records already claimed she was alive, which would make her disappearance into the Syndicate's ranks a little too suspicious. However, she would still be reliant upon the science division - not only for maitenance of her Enhancements, but also for therapy for what was almost certain to be a nasty case of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Naturally, their real intentions worked like a charm. Within one week, Akemi had been restored to life - her hospital records successfully hiding an entire week of being dead as a moment of brain-death and a long time in critical condition. By the end of the summer, Akemi was, at least as far as the public eye and her schoolmates were aware, mostly recovered. She would be ready to start college by the fall semester. This image of restored normalcy was enough to render Teru grateful to the science team, successfully (as far as they could tell) getting him off their backs.
However, in reality, Teru had already caught on to the truth. Akemi, while not truly brainwashed, had been put through manipulative therapy with an end result not nearly as far from flat-out brainwashing as had been promised. She no longer truly cared about college or any possibility of a live beyond the Syndicate division that had saved her life, and all-too-happily agreed to help them against various problematic interests - including the Hagino-gumi, who had rapidly begun to prove a thorn in their side. Her existing trainings, after "optimizations", have left her more than capable of leading other Enhanced in battle - Heiwa and Tsume being the team she led.
And then all three got yanked to D at the same time. Thankfully (for the Syndicate), they've stepped outside time to do so. Not so thankfully, they're now trapped in a fate more annoying than Kazumi at her worst - Reality TV.
Akemi dislikes being referred to as "tomboyish", prefers sweet foods, and tends to be distracted by cute things - hints of her original personality. She doesn't like being called out on any of these.
Personality:
Tsurugi was once a warm, kind-hearted girl dedicated to doing right by her friends. That girl was horrifically murdered and suspects a close friend's organization for the act. The result is that Tsurugi is untrusting and cold, leaving a serious, angry woman who only relaxes, even a little, around people she sincerely trusts. Her distrust goes up to 11 for anyone affiliated with a crime family - they're the type of people that killed her, after all.
Tsurugi is bullheaded, devoting everything she can to something once she has put her mind to it. Capable of immense guile or intense straightforwardness, she will use a scheme just as easily as fighting directly.
In the field of battle, Tsurugi is a capable leader, able to eye out an entire situation and guide a squadron perfectly. She also is capable of handling administrative work on top. This is tempered by a scarily short temper for disobedience or questioning of her orders when in battle. Tsurugi views Tsume and Heiwa as rather foolish and frustrating to work with, even though she does not (USUALLY) fault their ability in battle. (Guaranteed at least half the Dozaro team is going to set her off, too...)
Powers/Skills: Like Tsume and Heiwa, Tsurugi is Enhanced, requiring regular maitenance in return for extreme strength, speed, and endurance. Her speed is in between Heiwa and Tsume's, but her signature power is something all it's own - allowing her to harness electricity, in the form of adding a 'shocking' aftertouch to her blade, or throwing bolts at enemies.
She is a talented general administrator, capable of extremely quick orders in combat, and is an absolute expert with most bladed weapons due to her Kendo training.
Notes: Tsurugi will, given a choice, live with Tsume and Heiwa (and probably will need to for maitenence reasons).
Sample Post:
This post and array of threads should help. This post comes from a situation where Tsurugi's been convinced to help the Hagino-gumi - at least in the context of CO.
