New to rpgs (kinda)
Yes, as the heading says "new to rpgs" and no, not rocket propelled grenades (insert joke). I am giving a stab at Dragon Quest VIII. The last time I played an rpg, was when I was in 6th maybe 7th grade, and I haven't actually taken on as the player in some time. Mainly, my attention span is not conducent (sp) to most video games for long periods of time, but for some reason DQ8 (mmmmm, Dairy Queen) has me. So, anyone reading who has played this or is a fan of RPGs in general, can you give me some general advice? I figure the first time I play through I will play through the game and do my best. The second time, maybe explore a little more now that I am more familiar with the layout, terrain, enemies, etc. I didn't go out and grab a guide or anything, cause well, I was too lazy and really didn't think about it till I was home. I looked at a few sites and got some general suggestions and what not (spells, items, and fighting) , but am mostly figuring things out on my own, like what strategies work best for battles and what not. So, if anyone has played or is playing send a response.
