So it took me until last night to go back and read Obama's speech in response to the kerfuffle in the media about his former pastor. I only bothered to look at it because SO MANY people told me it was not just good, but amazing. That is an amazing speech. You're right -- he talks about race in a direct and honest way that most people are unwilling to do in public. No matter what happens in the elections, I hope that this starts a discussion -- you know what, I don't want a discussion, I want a recognition -- that the things that lead many to racist statements and feelings are, in fact, universal. I've known that for years, as I'm sure you have, but for whatever reason most people don't seem willing to see/accept that. It would be a good thing for all if people were willing to listen to this and, yes, just believe it. ;)
