She went to the vet today because really, her ears have become ridiculous and she is not happy. Thankfully no mites, just lots and lots of wax. So later today I will put on my leather jacket and clean her ears, then put drops in them to help break up the wax. Also, she gets antibiotics for her gums. AND the poor thing got 3 or 4 shots (vaccines and another antibiotic) AND she had to be outside. As soon as we got home she had treat time and is now off hiding somewhere. I will do her ears this morning, but I'll give her a bit of a break first. She was so well behaved and didn't yowl or scratch or anything. Just hunched in a little ball and did her little distress purr while the doctor checked on her.
Seriously, if you're in or near Ambler and need a vet, I cannot recommend this guy enough. He's very professional, very quick (I was in and out in 10 minutes even with everything that had to be done!), has a lovely slightly OIrish accent and ASKS about every vaccine or med he recommends -- doesn't push anything you can't afford or don't want to do. Like, I wasn't sure if the SPCA had tested Rune for Feline Leukemia, but instead of insisting I get the test right there he told me to come home and check her records and think about it. Which I thought was really nice. So if you need a vet, Dr. Gerry Maddox on Euclid Ave. in Ambler. Can't say enough good things about him, really.
As soon as I get my tax return (or someone else in the house gets a bit of money) we're going to take Rowen in for shots and a checkup too. Aside from her weight though the tapioca lump seems perfectly healthy.
