Manic Monday

Nov 05, 2007 10:47

It began with me starting my car this morning and almost ALL the warning lights going on -- coolant, oil, gas... and then trying to de-ice my windshield and finding myself out of washer fluid. I called work to let them know I needed to give my car some TLC and set out for the nice, large, well-lit and well-stocked WaWa.

First trip in -- coolant and washer fluid. Fill those up and of course blacken my hands in the process. What a day to wear a white shirt. :( A new one, too. Careful not to touch myself I decide to check the oil dipstick just in case something dire has happened. I am ingenious badger and, lacking a rag, use a maxi-pad that has been hanging out loose in my trunk for ages. Waste not, want not. I am upset to observe that may car has almost NO oil in it. I call David and he tells me that if I am in a place where I can buy oil to do so immedaitely and to also go for my planned oil change this afternoon. Second trip in to WaWa, a quart of oil which my car drinks hungrily. I turn the engine over and voila, no more warning lights! This necessitates a third trip in to WaWa to wash my hands and procure celebratory coffee.

Let me tell you, you get MANY strnge looks from all kinds of people whilst grease-monkeying under your hood at WaWa, in your work clothes. Especially if you are female.

All I need to learn now is how to change a tire and I will be pretty well set. Maybe I can get David to show me if we get a warm day.

Unfortunately the Manic Monday did not end with my adventures in auto maintenance and instead continues apace here at work where the e-mails are flying, the phones jumping and the staff already harried (and it's not even 11am!).

Also, I forgot the paperwork for my car at home, along with the returns I wanted to make at the mall after work, so on lunch it's back to Ambler, grab all those things without waking David, back to work. And then AFTER work, mall for an oil change, return some clothes, pick up Call of Duty 4 for David, ransom car, and then get cold cuts on the way home for dinner tonight.

And somewhere in there I want to find 3000-ish words for NaNo. o.O

Send love and caffinated vibes.
