Ramble

A few interesting prospects on the horizon. Here isn't really the place to discuss but suffice it to say I am intrigued, interested and a little excited by all of them. Not sure what will pan out, but even if only one or two of them do I will be a happy camper.

This has been a long week of unending TIRED, seemingly unmitigated by however much sleep I get (or don't). I'm glad it's over and I have a weekend in which I may sleep unrepentantly when and for as long as I wish. Even not being at work on Tuesday, this week has been LONG.

I broke up the monotony Thursday night by going out with Mark, Matt, David and Hilary to catch 'Sunshine'. I was worried it was going to be too much of an Event Horizon clone for me to really enjoy it (and I LOVE Event Horizon). It started off a bit rough and slow but as I relaxed into the movie it became very engrossing and entertaining. It didn't dip into the supernatural (good) or the existential (may have helped a bit). We all agreed the bad guy ended up being a little weak and there were a few plot inconsistances but overall it was worth $8 and a night out. Definately worth catching in the theater if you can or on DVD if you can't.

I had one or two possibilities on my plate this weekend but alas! David had agreed a while ago to go to Jersey this weekend to hang out with people, making a trip to PA Renn in there somewhere. Unfortunately, his car developed a very unsettling grinding click and had to be taken to the shop. Diagnosis? Two bad axles and a destroyed lower motor mount. Long story short, I have lent him my car to drive to Jersey and Hilary and I are splitting hers as I worked Friday and she works today. This does leave me with David's car but I am NOT taking it any further than possibly the WaWa up the road because with my luck the axle will break while I'm driving it. So while I'm not really stranded, for the sake of safety and keeping David's car in repairable shape I am going to be homebound this weekend.

Our new quilt finally came from The Company Store. It is bright and colorful and soft and just the right weight, matches the sheets perfectly and is EXACTLY what we wanted. And on clearance, too! I must be getting old, when bed linens excite me. :p

Possibly Harry Potter this weekend with Hilary. I DO want to see it before it leaves the theater. I'm kind of sad I'm not excited about it. I do sort of miss fandom, but not enough to go back to HP or ANY other fandom right now. I miss RPing and fics and inside jokes (I STILL have that damn "Muffins" icon on my computer -- amberry, I'm looking at you) and the general instant bonding that I used to do. Anymore though I fear I'm too old and stodgy to really connect via the internet anymore. And I look with envy at people like kamberlane who seem to have NO problem making friends, meeting people and generally being popular. I don't consider myself a boring person but man do I suck at that "getting to know people" thing.

I have laundry and dishes in. The landladies are coming up soon to look at David's amazing sparking light fixture. It's wonderfully cool here. The AC is off and all the windows that can open ARE. David & co. should have a LOVELY day for the faire. I slept nearly 10 hours SOLID last night. Even though I was up at 6:30am I passed out around 9pm and just SLEPT. It was SO NICE. I wish I could sleep that hard more often.

Life is good. People are good. Alone time is good. IMs and txts are good. Yay good!

yay!, ramble, real life
