More Asshat Drivers; Or: The Bigger the Vehicle, The Dumber They Drive
We had a small dusting of snow this morning. It's become apparent in recent years that due to global warming NO ONE in southeastern Pennsylvania remembers snow, let alone how to drive in it.
This morning I left a little late to give the roads a chance to warm up and by the time I left they were only wet -- no snow to be seen. This fact does not seem to deter the guy in the Tree Doctor truck, towing the industrial chipper from proceeding at about 25 mph through a 45mph zone. Ok, fine, surface roads, I can cope. I figure as soon as I get on the expressway I'll ditch the idiot.
No such luck.
Idiot graduates to asshat by deciding to take the expressway as well. First he nearly causes a pile-up on the on-ramp by refusing to merge into anything larger than a two-mile gap. Once he DOES merge into the flow of traffic he promptly SLOWS DOWN to 30 mph. ON A 55MPH EXPRESSWAY. I almost got a Mitsubishi up my ass when I braked to accomodate Tree Guy the Wonder 'Tard. Getting in the left lane to pass was impossible because everyone with half a brain cell jumped over there to avoid the 30mph retard parade when they saw it forming. So I putter along, all the while cursing stupid drivers who lack cajones and commitment to the art of driving.
AND THEN. AND THEN he gets OFF the expressway at the NEXT EXIT. This exit is LESS than a mile down the road and can be EASILY REACHED by surface roads, whereupon you can TRAVEL at 30 mph without ENDAGERING THE LIVES OF FELLOW MOTORISTS. I was glad he was OFF my road of course, but it steamed me that his presence on the expressway was POINTLESS and DANGEROUS when he was only travelling from Butler Pk. to the Norristown Road exit.
Don't even get me started on the Lexus who rode in the semi's blind spot whilst the road was in the process of narrowing to one lane, either. Pass or drop back, idiot. Don't wait for the truck to make the first move!
I honestly don't understand how some people a) get their licenses and b) manage to not get killed, maimed or otherwise mangled -- they sorely deserve it.
