this *is* a 4-minute GAP ad! Otherwise masquerading as Yuna Ito's eminently watchable new PV, "Koi wa Groovy x2". I'm used to commercial tie-ins and product placement, but this takes it to a whole other level. Watching this, I realize how much I miss that series of white soundstage GAP ads from ten years ago, with the different themes, like soul or funk. I wonder if they never went out of style in Japan, because this video fits right in. My favorite part of the PV is the flaming, Caucasian background dancer to Yuna's left, working some serious moves. Love him!
The song's almost disco in its dance vibe, a new direction for Yuna. Well, if it worked for Kato Miliyah... Yuna's voice sounds overly slick and processed, actually reminding me of Yuki Koyanagi's club tracks a bit. As for Gap Japan's winter 2008 collection, it's quintessential Gap -- classic silhouettes, inoffensive colour palate (grey, black, and more grey), and the same stripey preponderance I see at my neighbourhood Gap. Yuna's red tartan overcoat is a definite winner.
And damn, that song is catchy.
