My B&O's died

My Bang and Olfsen A8 set, that is. One of the wires snapped at the joints. I think the engineers that design these earphones should have them made so that these wires don't snap as easily.

The A8 was a real slick looking piece of equipment. But it kinda got totally owned by the Sennheiser CX300 (RRP $115 approx) that I bought to replace it. The bass on these tiny in-ear pieces are pretty much the deepest I've heard on such types of 'phones. But trade-off is that it isn't a clear (for want of a better term) as the A8. Guess the B&O's are targetted at the atas category of symphonic music, while the Sennheisers are more for Average Joe whose music is more of the deep electronica/bass category. CX300s, great sound, pity the cheap and nasty look. However, the Senns have a better cord design - asymmetric behind-the-neck 1.0m cord.

Need to get used to having my ear canals totally sealed off, though. The pressure differential makes my head feel like imploding at times.

The best cans that I (have ever?) owned would the the Grado SR-60. Not too good for travelling, though. Cumbersome non-foldable design, long and thick cables, and open-back design means fellow MRT commuters are more than likely to get pissed off when the iPod is cranked up a little.

Test music:
Chicane - Saltwater/Halcyon
Enigma - Gravity of Love
Wide Angle - Finished Symphony ('Live')

(Yeah, I know. Old people music)
