Touching the Evil Monkey

Man, I hate watching awesome TV shows that have already been canceled. Especially ones that were canceled after one season!

Sadly, this was/is the case of the US version of Touching Evil, a terrific show (if the pilot allows for total judgment) which stars Jeffery Donovan. You may know him as the lead dude in the mega-rad Burn Notice. Personally, I have a huge man-crush on the guy, so Touching Evil is fantastic in many wicked ways. Great acting, direction, writing, him, AND sweet music from Mr. Trent Reznor (at least with the pilot, anyway).

The premise is simple enough: A special criminal investigator is shot in the head, dies for 10 minutes, and as a result has poor impulse control and no sense of shame. He's also really damn good at what he does. Look, the show is difficult NOT to watch.

The original Touching Evil is/was a UK programme, one which I will be watching soon enough. In the case of the British version, the main character has a "gift" that allows him to sense nasty human beings and such. I'll give my thoughts on that soon. I would have watched it first, but there's my man-crush on Mr. Donovan, you see...

I'm happy Burn Notice exists, though. And if anyone out there is looking for more excellent TV along the same unconventional lines, try out Life-- which has my vote as best television show and cast of 2007.

man-crushes, life, touching evil, tv, burn notice
