So. I guess an update is in order, right? IDK why I'm so bad at updating my LJ. I'm on the computer almost all the time, and I'm always updating my Twitter and Facebook with random, inane stuff, so you would think I could take SOME time to take a look at the this thing... but I digress.
First and foremost is I'm being laid off. They're having a facility closure where I work, so my last day will be on, or around, February 3rd. Basically what happened is the company I work for grew too big and there was a lack of business in certain centers. The only ones that are staying open are in CA, MO, and OH. I don't plan on moving out of state, so transferring is kind of out of the picture. (Unless there are some awesome people in CA and OH that want to house my daughter and I until I can get back on my feet???? :D?) Anyways. The plan is basically to last the two more weeks there, get laid off, and then file for unemployment. That way I can still get some sort of income while I'm looking for jobs and can start saving up for daycare so I can start looking into daytime jobs. It would really help if I can widen my availability from only evenings to daytime and evenings. Plus, I'll be more likely to be hurried if I have open availability. I have a friend who is a full-time nanny, so I'll be asking her if she might be willing to watch Winter for me. It'll probably be cheaper that way too.
Second is I'm probably going to be canceling my plans to go to Japan at the end of the year, especially if I'm not able to find a job. It's sad, because I've wanted to go for so many years, and now I have someone very to dear to me that lives there, and I'm like, "Arghhh, do I really have to wait ANOTHER year to go?" It's so frustrating how fast things can change, and even planning ahead doesn't help.
BUT. I'll be saving up to start going back to school for the summer. I'll work to get off my academic probation so I can get back on the Pell Grant, and get all the little courses out of the way so I can start working on my major. That way, I can be one step closer to moving ahead. I'll also be that much closer to moving away and getting a clean slate. I'm actually pretty excited for that.
Third. Christmas and New Years were pretty fun. I mean, they were just like every other previous holiday, but it was good seeing the family all together and actually getting along, if only for a short while.
Fourth. I'm going to Naka Kon this year. This is going to be the last big thing that I'll be doing until I can find another job. It's going to cost approx. $150 (not including tax), and that's only for my share of the hotel room and for the three day pass. -sigh- I'm going to be taking a little bit more money so that I can eat there and maybe buy a few things, but. I won't be able to spend like I originally wanted too. But anyways. I'm going as a Sweet Lolita. The dress is ridiculously cute (however, the zipper broke and I need to get that fixed ASAP). However, I need some ideas about what to do with my hair and make-up. Any suggestions?
Fifth. My computer has been being a douche, so I took it in yesterday to get looked at. As of right now, it hasn't been looked at, but hopefully it's done by either tomorrow or Sunday. It's torture being away from my laptop (I'm sneaking on the desktop downstairs). But, if it's a software thing then everything will be free to fix. If it's a hardware thing then I have to pay for the part, but then everything else is free. Hopefully it's just the software so I don't have to pay for anything. -cheapskate-
I've been thinking about looking into foodstamps. It'll definitely help my family and I out, especially since I'll be out of a job and my mom is working as a waitress (and we all know how much that pays).
So, yeah. There's my update. I'll probably update again after Naka though, so it shouldn't take as long to hear back from me next time. Love you all~
