Golden eyes glanced at her. Without thinking, he stepped forward and tripped into her arms. She caught him naturally, but his idea of a first kiss landed in disaster.
“Gilbert?”
“Miss Echo, I’m really sorry!”
“Do not worry about it. And it’s Echo.”
The small boy moved to sit up and detangle himself from Echo’s light grip from catching him. Except he hovered for a moment before placing a small kiss on her lips. Slate gray eyes opened wide. When he pulled away, he caught a glimpse of her face before instantly apologizing and running off.
Sitting up, a small part of her blue sleeve touched her lips.
“Echo didn’t mind.”
