weight watchers

i've considered trying weight watchers many times over the past five years or so. i know several people who've tried it and all of them gave it a positive review. also, my company has something called benefits plus. each employee gets $100 per year for every year of service, up to $500, which you can use for self improvement, basically - smoking cessation aids, classes, gym memberships, and diet programs are all reimbursable. they'll also match charitable contributions, and i usually use up about $240 of my $500 per year getting them to match my donations to the ASPCA. the rest always goes to waste. anyway, i figured since my company will pay for it, and i'm having a lot of trouble losing my baby weight, i might as well give it a try. i signed up, weighed in, and stayed for the meeting. they start with celebrations, recognizing people who have lost their first 5 pounds, second 5 pounds, 5% of their body weight, etc. and then there is a short interactive talk on a certain topic like the challenges of eating healthy during the holidays. i stayed afterward for the new member orientation and then went on my way. probably most people know you get a certain number of points per day, based on your age, weight, etc. you can calculate the points in anything using the calories, fat and fiber. i get some extra points for being a nursing mom, and you can also earn extra points by exercising. i followed the program diligently all week, without too much difficulty. i didn't weigh myself at home at all. at my weigh in this morning, they told me i was down 4.2 pounds! that feels really good. only 1.3 more pounds until i hit a goal i set months ago, and my reward is a haircut! i can't wait. :)

i have 20 more pounds of baby weight to lose, and i'd like to lose another 20 pounds after that. we'll see!
