Question: Is it possible to write a six-page paper about how this:
"If I am to die, I'll die! The loss to the world will not be large and, anyway, I myself am sufficiently bored."
is maybe the greatest two sentences ever? Because it really, really is. It's sharp and funny and sad and straightforward and self-justifying and bizarrely seductive and perfect. But I have to write six pages, and I can't just wax rhapsodic for all of them.
(The greatest two sentences ever are from A Hero of Our Time by Mikhail Lermontov, by the way, and the rest of the book almost lives up to them. You should read it.)
