RotM 1.85.7 -- ”I know this is going to sound strange, but I was being chased by…”
I know this is going to sound strange, but I was being chased by shadows. I don't mean like the shadows of my past or whatever. Not the ghosts of yesteryear or regrets that were dogging my footsteps.
I mean actual, literal, real, shadows that could either possess you or strangle you to death, and neither one was something you want to have happen. When they possessed you, you got really strong, but half the time you got really dead, too, because people fought back. Othertimes, they just messed with you, tainting you. Some of the people who made it still carry that taint, you know. Darkness on their souls or in their auras or whatever you want to call it. They're like these vortexes for negative energy or something, with the dark mystical forces headed right at them. It makes them easy to possess again, and then more of them end up dead.
I'm sort of sick of my friends getting possessed and dead, especially when the possession ends up in the straight guy I've got a crush on deciding he wants a piece of my ass, but it's never actually him, you know?
And I'm digressing.
So, these shadows were after Arra, who was a wizard from another dimension where the Shadowlord was ruling, and he wanted to kill the wizards because they could oust him back out of power. Arra's the only one who escaped, and she did it by coming to our world. So then, he learned about our world and decided he wanted to rule it, too. And Arra? She needed help and it turned out that I had some sort of skill as a wizard, like this latent ability? So she taught me the basics to help her, which then meant that the Shadowlord wanted me dead, too, and thus the shadows chasing me. Sometimes they were in my friends, trying to kill me, and sometimes they just got where they'd wrap around and try to strangle out whatever light they saw in me.
Not fun, really, at all. We beat them, eventually, but then Arra went back to her world and left me to clean up the mess. Also, not fun, but I'm getting better at it.
