I think I finally did it. I got this journal symmetrical. No columns on one side but not the other. No harsh colours on the top but not the bottom. I'd say that was time well spent.
My room will require some work. Why can't the door be in the MIDDLE of the room? Or maybe have a door on each side? I stand in the room and its so much heavier

But is there not a certain beauty in the contrast of asymmetry? There is an art to executing it while still maintaining balance, is there not? A baritone and soprano are not in perfect harmony, but when their voices join in duet they create a depth which two tenors of perfect harmony could not even begin to fathom.

Foolish boy! You speak of imperfections? Over the arrangements of letters, lines and images on a glowing screen? Impudent imbecile!

Music is different. Sound is different. Of course that will require a harmonious balance! But if someone is much louder than everyone else, then its wrong, isn't it? If everyone is singing in a different key, its still wrong! Everything has to come together perfectly and match everything else!
And whats wrong with wanting my journal to be perfect? Everyone should strive for perfection in everything they do!

It is quite possible for two people to sing at different keys and yet still compliment each other. It is the balance, as with joining black and white. If placed wrong, it is harsh on the eyes and nigh impossible to gaze upon. But if the proper form is created, even in such contrast, it can be quite beautiful.

But a child can not know anything of perfection or lack thereof! Insolent, whimpering child! Symmetry is not the only balance in the world!

I'll admit I don't know enough about music to make a proper argument on it's behalf, and give you that. But I still hold that if theres too much or too little of something, it can come off as grating.
Symmetry may not be the only balance in the world, but its the most important! If someone has a tattoo on one arm and a bandanna in the same place on the other, I'll accept that, but two tattoos or two bandannas would be completely unobtrusive!
And why do you keep bring my age into this? It sounds like the only offense you have!

Age is a mark of how long one has existed. How much time one has had to acquire experiences and ideas. And it is has been proven to me, many times over, that those young of age lack the proper insight and are notoriously impulsive, crude and outright inconsiderate. Where as those of higher age have learned to at least mask such behaviors under a thin veil of common decency. Some time ago, as I passed a young girl--an irritating little dancer--pointed and shouted there was a ghost among them. But later that night, when I sat myself at a table of gentlemen and their ladies, each assumed I was in attendance with another, and said nothing of the matter. Tell me child, who is so obsessed with balance and symmetry. Are you of the mind that you might point and something different and call it unnatural to it's face, or would you hide your discomfort and maintain a courteous attitude?

I don't care if something is natural or unnatural. The sun in the sky could sprout a face and start laughing at me for all I care. As long as that face is symmetrical!
And though we may be arguing, I don't think I've been crude or inconsiderate at all, young or not.
