Project: Bliss

Feb 26, 2011 21:40

I was inspired over the week to start working on a new music project. I haven't mentioned it to many, but I've been extraordinarily distratced.

Cut for length )

I am stunned at how quickly that all came together. One day you're all excited about sampling and then: BOOM! It's cool to see you all mused up.

It did come together very quickly, though it was a mess until Saturday night. Once I get deep into working, I get a little lost in it and don't stop until I'm either done or I hit another roadblock (generally, a section of the song I'm not sure of, or that isn't coming together the way I want).

The lyrics library still needs quite a lot. I want to use a spoke word section in the beginning of my next piece, so once that's written out and recorded I'll have a much bigger selection to work with.

A suggestion, I think, would be to double up the drums at 1:15. Use another instance of redrum and use something like a glitch kit, or even a standard, dry acoustic set with a hint of the "tube" setting on the scream distortion thing and copy and paste the sequence from your first redrum instance. Where it kicks in at 1:15 it feels like there should be a bit more punch. To me, personally, anyway.

Also, I can't understand the words, but I like the noise. That may be because I am using shitty laptop speakers right now, though.

Partially, it was a bad upload. The one that's currently available should be better. The lyrics will still be hard to understand, but shouldn't be quite so high-pitched.

I consider this song done, but I'll go back and listen, anyway.

Now that I've listened to it on proper headphones, I take back my point about 1:15--I didn't hear the space given to the different bits that come in at that point; the space gives it enough punch.

I still can't understand the words, though, but I don't think it is necessary to understand them. I like it as is, without knowing what the words are.

I know the first combination of lyrics/instrument through the vocoder is quite messy and it's hard to understand, but the second set (the ones that pan left and right, sort of sound whispered... but by a lot of people...) has always been very clear to me.

Granted, I wrote the fucking thing.
