There’s also the more concrete evidence of the scene in Torent Forest, where fangirls still squeal daily over the sight of Yuan cradling Kratos in his arms.

Hah, I enjoyed that rant. I enjoyed it a lot. Also, it is mentioned what happened to Yuan in a novel and in the drama CD. Yuan stays behind to take care of ze tree. He didn't go with Kratos.

Ah, okay, I may have to put in an edit or something, then...on the one hand, fooey, but on the other hand, it's kinda sweet and tragically romantic for him to stay near Martel like that...(don't hurt me, I'm a multi-shipper...)

I sometimes ship Yuan/Martel too. But... keep in mind that lady Martel of the tree is not the same as the Martel he once proposed to. Plus, I doubt he'd want to get too close to a spirit who looks an awful lot like his dead fiancée, but is not. Hmm... Poor Yuan is destined to live all alone until he dies... V_V

Oh, and Yuan knows she's not the same, but at the same time, Martel *is* in there somewhere, as a part of the spirit. And when we consider that this is the man who created a whole secret organization dedicated to fulfilling her ideals and at the same time rescuing her from Mithos and eternal undeath...well, personally, I think it's safe to say that he's still a little attached.

And he is not destined to be alone forever. Raine's still in the world, as is Zelos unless he actually did die, not to mention both Lloyd and Colette...he's got plenty of options. Just cause Martel's part of a spirit and Botta's dead and Kratos is gone doesn't mean he can't find someone else. (Although he might be rather reluctant, everyone keeps leaving him behind...)

Yeah, but he wanted to let her die. I guess, in some way, that means he might've forced himself to get over her.

Awww... Poor Yuan! I'd never leave him behind!

On the contrary...he knew it was the only way to finally grant her the peace she deserved. If he'd gotten over her, it was because he'd forced himself not to feel the pain it would cause him to be the reason for her death.

Well, keep in mind that at least two out of those three didn't exactly leave him behind by choice...
(Yeah, it's a bit twisted and painful on both sides, but it can work, with lots of angst involved.)

Besides, Colette looks more like Mithos than like Martel, anyway. It's her personality that's like Martel, and to be honest, I think that would make Yuan push her away at first rather than get hurt.

It'd take a *lot* of work to get them together, but it is something I want to try someday. Along with about fifteen million other things.

It mostly happens to me in Twilight Princess. Those creatures are hard to shake off, and now they have Cloud swords too! I got smacked by a few of those four times in a row in the Cave of Ordeals... ~_~

*hasn't gotten all that far in TP* Aw maaaan, they're in TP, too? I *hate* those things. I *hate* zombies, and my god the screams are so creeeeeeepy... T_T and they have swords, too? T_T

Yup. Apparently, in the time between OoT and TP, they've gotten addicted to Final Fantasy. They're wearing weird red cloaks/scarves and they like to whack you with enormous swords, wrapped in white bandages.
Can we say... Cloud?
