Happiness, Contentment, Joy
Why are there so many words?
It seems they cover different states of being.
Using no definitions but my own, feel free to suggest alternates…
Happiness - a feeling of utter internal brightness, which can be seen by others “All lit up”. A momentary emotion, to be treasured while it lasts, and stored up for later memory.
Contentment - a gentle river, full of peace, long-lasting, but not particularly exciting. It doesn’t need excitement.
Joy - a momentary emotion, but more energetic than happiness - an explosion of fireworks instead of a simpler shining light.
