Thank you so much for the lovely comments. I really wanted Dean's sacrifice to mean something, so I always imagined this story ending with an explosion that he couldn't come back from instead of being knocked into a different dimension.

I love this fic so much :) I don't know if I mentioned it, but the details that go into creating this world are so well thought out - not just the quotes and excerpts, but the flashbacks and the tiny differences make the world feel so real.

This fucking gutted me :-( I was so hoping Dean got out somehow, and instead . . . Kudos for going with it though. I really enjoyed this - it was so dark, but not unbelievable, ya know? Masterful reframing with Roman and everyone. LOVED Kevin! I was happy Sam survived anyway, and Dean will never be DEAD-dead with Sam to remember him.

Yeah, I'll be thinking about this one for a while.

P.S. is Sam's wife anyone or an OFC?

Thanks so much! The prologue with Dean's death was the first thing I wrote, and then I found it really hard to actually follow through. I myself have to screw up my courage to read anything labeled death!fic, especially when one gets left behind, so I'm grateful that you read it :)

(I left Sam's wife vague on purpose...she could be Amelia or she could be anybody. In my head I just saw a brunette, because I can't bear to think of Sam with a blonde after Jessica.)
