Shiny! Always had a weird feeling myself about the Jessica scene. Not bashing Teh Jackles, those seemed to be a struggle for Jensen in season one (the heart to heart in Shadow was strained as well), like he couldn't reconcile snarky!Dean with concerned!Dean. He has it down now, though. :) Jared delivers the "it's not just about Jessica" line so very well, but it made the "eyelash" scene necessary so we would know that he is really worried about death by proximity in general. I always heard the "that's fascinating Sara" line as in "um, your point is?" Your thoughts reminded me of how archaic his feelings about Sara really are and how that will probably keep us from seeing her again... :(

Sam doesn't view women in an archaic sense normally, at least he doesn't seem to, which surprises me about his comment to Sara. Or maybe...that's how he treats everyone who is not a hunter, because he thinks that male or female, they are not hunters and can't know, and therefore, can't contribute. I don't know if we'll never see Sara...she was a very strong character, strong enough for Dean to want Sam to marry her and that's saying something! As for Dean, he definately has so many sides to his character, it must have been a workout for Mr. Ackles to get a handle on them all. But like you say, he's a champ at it now!
Yeah, it's a good scene, but not nearly long enough in my book. I guess I get an erotic shock watching Dean do "normal" things, since they seem so at odds with everything else he does, like saving people, hunting things. I mean, have you ever seen him sniff laundry? Maybe it's me...

I think I know what you mean. I have a definite thing about the boys doing slice-of-life kind of stuff. I want to see them brewing their own coffee or stocking up at one of those dime stores we still have in the teeny Midwestern towns the boys frequent. & I can't tell you how much I want to see either of them cook - not in a microwave, but with real food that involves chopping & simmering oil & the like...

I like your ideas! It would be nice if they had more slice of life stuff like that...shopping for food, or bandages, or even salt, which they surely go through a lot of. And how bout them doing some actual laundry?? As for cooking, yeah! I see them making a lot of comfort food, with basic recipes they carry in their heads. Call Kripke and tell him, will you?
One of the best things about your reviews is that it makes me want to watch that particularly episode all over again, reliving the glee and squee contained in your reviews. Also, I have never read a more pornographic description of knife whetting in my life. Congratulations on that. The stills you include add a lot to the review; always nice to have a pictorial reminder of the yumminess you're writing about. Finally, on a technical note, I had to scroll down a long way on the page to get to the review; I don't remember that from the other reviews. You may want to check it.
That's very nice of you to say, that you want to relive the glee and squee! I've read any number of reviews and they always seemed to me to be a bit dry and never focused on what I thought was important. Yeah, they include what happened, and the cool quotes and stuff. But, as a fangirl, I'm not just watching the story, I'm absorbing the angst, taking in the view, and imaginging my hands touching a jean-clad thigh. I mean, did they not hire the sexiest men they could find? Are they not touting this show as "scary just got sexy?" And do they not write scripts that create situations where the boys are in exactly the emotional positions I want them to be? If they didn't want me to write about it this way, then they shouldn't write Supernatural the way they do!! Okay, off soap box now. : D
