The Battle
In a city outside of St. Paul, Minnesota there lived a kind, gentle, old man and his family. They lived in a small, but neat little house. One evening the old man came home from work and put away his briefcase and changed into some more convertible clothes. He then went into the nursery room, there his children greeted him. They asked him to read them a bedtime story. The old man told his children to get in bed and turn off the lights. The children looked disappointed, but did as they were told. As soon as they were in bed with the lights out, the old man came in with a very big and rather heavy book. The old man put a flashlight on the dresser and turned it on. Then the old man said," This book has was to me by my father. Your grandpa's father read it to your grandpa when he was your age. Now it is my turn to read it to you two, then the next day give it to you so you can continue the age old tradition. Now let us begin. The book's title is The Battle." On an old farm, deep in the country, lived a blacksmith, and a poor farm boy." the old man read, " Every day the farm boy would get up, feed the animals, chop wood, and make repairs on the blacksmith's house. One day the blacksmith says to the farm boy," I'm going to go into town and buy some supplies. I'll be back in one hour. I want the stalls and hayloft clean by then." With that the man left. Then the farm boy got to work. When he was done he had a few moments to left before the blacksmith returned. So he went into the workshop, where the blacksmith made armor and swords to sell at the town's market. He picked up a finished sword and swung it around in a half circle. He was pleased by the way it felt as it sliced the air. He took the sword outside and began using it like a real knight in armor. As he was doing this the blacksmith came home with his supplies and saw him with the sword. He stopped and watched. Then the farm boy came face to face with the blacksmith. The boy dropped the sword and said," I didn't mean to use the weapon with out your permission. I was just wondering what it would be like to hold a weapon for once." The blacksmith smiled and said," I know because I was watching you, and you look like you should see an old friend of mine. He's an expert at sword play." The boy couldn't believe it! For once the blacksmith actually smiled, when he was normally grumpy and upset. The next the farm boy went to town and began looking for a man named Taco. When he found him he told him the reason why he had come. Taco then began training him. When the training was over, the farm boy felt and looked like a new person. He went back to the blacksmith who made him a very special sword. The handle was gold with ten big red rubies in it, the hilt, also made of gold, had ten bigger rubies on it, and the blade made of silver, was five feet long. Then the blacksmith said," You will need armor as well as the sword I made for you." So the blacksmith made a suit of armor for the boy. The armor was made of gold and was very light. Just as the boy was about to put the armor on Taco came running to the boy and said in one breath, " There is danger coming you must go and never come back here, because the danger that is coming wants you. I don't know why buy they do. Go and may you one day find out the reason for all this!" The boy quickly put on his armor and fled into the woods that were at the northern part of town. For three days the boy ran. Then at the end of the third day the boy came to a small village. The name of it was Empy. When he into the village everyone stopped what they were doing and bowed to the boy. The boy just stared at the people. Then out of nowhere a Blue Wizard took the boy's hand and led him to a castle. Inside was a blue dragon. The Wizard took the boy to the main room of the castle, there he said," My name is Join. I have been waiting for you to come here and get the Flute of Sleep and the Shield of Jupiter." The boy said," Who am I?." " Don't you know? asked the wizard. " No I don't" said the boy. " Your real name is Irookon" the wizard answered. " Why were all the people bowing to me when I entered the village?" asked Irookon. " Because you are going to become a legend and you're going to become King of this land after you fight and kill The Evil One, killed your enter family, but didn't kill you because he didn't know you even existed. Your the only one who can stop him" the wizard said. After that Irookon left to find this Evil One. Two weeks later Irookon upon a dragon that was very sick. The dragon said," Kind sir, do you have any herbs that can cure poison?" Irookon said," No, but I know where some are. I'll be right back." He went off and a few moments later came back with several herbs. He made a stew out of them and gave it to the dragon. After that the dragon felt better and decided to help his new friend for the rest of the journey. Six days had gone by and they finally got to the Realm of the Red Death. After travailing for two days they ran across a small band of troll who wanted to kill them. The dragon said," Let me take them. I'll tear them to pieces!" Irookon told the dragon to take half of them and let him deal with the others. Drawing his sword Irookon slashed open the belly of the closest troll spilling blood all over the ground but the troll was still alive! Again he attacked the troll this time he went for the face, hitting the monster with the sword handle he cut the right eye and cheek to ribbons flesh was hanging on in strips to the jaw and cheek bone. The dragon had messily devoured tree trolls and was biting the head off a fourth one, blood and flesh were all over the ground. Irookon was still fighting his first troll, he then swung the sword into the troll's neck and the monsters head fell to the ground next to the body witch bleeding blood everywhere. Two trolls attacked the dragon but were ripped to shreds from the dragon's claws. Tow other trolls attacked Irookon and he chopped off their arms and legs before he chopped off their heads in a big pool of blood and flesh. the last two trolls attacked the dragon and they too were sliced to ribbons and then messily eaten. When the fight was over they continued on. Soon they came to the Palace of Death where inside was The Evil One was. They could not cross the moat that surrounded the Palace because it was hot lava. So the dragon flew them across and went into the court yard. There they were attacked by invisible creatures. Irookon knew it was time for the Shield of Jupiter. He held it to the sun and it made all the invisible creatures turn into sand. They went into the main hall and from there went to the throne room. On the throne sat the Evil One himself and by him was a red dragon. The beast was three hundred feet long and was very, very strong. The red dragon attacked the dragon that was with Irookon and knocked him out. " You wont take me out that easily, you beast! Come on I dare you to try or are you chicken!?! Well what the devil are waiting for? I said try and attack me!" Irookon yelled. At the red dragon roared and threw a flaming fireball at Irookon. Irookon jumped and yelled at the dragon," Now it's my turn you worm!" And he began playing the Flute of Sleep. It's melody was so soothing that it put the dragon to sleep. " Now it's just you and me you evil sonofagun!" Irookon yelled at the Evil One. " YOU SHALL PAY FOR MY FAMILY!" Irookon shouted. Then the Evil One spoke from a cloud as black and hideous as a patch of midnight that had never been swept away," That's not all I did, for the past twenty years I was looking for someone...that person is you. Yes it's clear now. You are part of the family that so long ago put in here and never let out, but now I can take my vengeance on the son of Gutokon!" The Evil One then threw a sword at Irookon but missed because he had jumped out of the way. Then they fought. The Evil One slashed open Irookon's right arm to the bone. Irookon yelled in agony. Then The Evil One cut Irookon's shoulder open and blood covered the floor. Irookon slashed The Evil One's chest open, his lungs and were cut to ribbons. The Evil One punched Irookon's left cheek and you could see the jaw bone and his teeth covered with blood, his cheek was in ribbons flesh hung on to the bone or was on the floor in great chunks. Irookon did not scream this time instead he dropped his sword, charged The Evil One, knocked him down and then grabbed the lapels of The Evil One's leather armor, picks him up from where he lay, and began slamming his back and head into the wall behind him. " It's pay back time you beast!" Irookon shouted as he slammed the Evil One's back into the wall a fifth time. On the sixth time they both went through the wall and immediatly start falling into a very deep chasm. Falling, falling, falling, and falling, deeper and deeper they both plunged into the great chasm. then all of a sudden they hit the bottom of the chasm, after falling for what seemed like years they stopped very painfully though but they did stop the falling. Irookon was still alive! he couldn't believe it thought he'd die the moment he hit the bottom. He then found the Evil One lying next to him he was dead............or was he?
Epilog: Irookon and his dragon friend went back to the village of Empy there he became King of the land. He ruled kindly and with justice. But there was always in the back of his mind questions. Was it really necessary to have killed the Evil One? Is he dead or alive? Will he ever want revenge? Then one day Irookon asked his dragon friend , who named Gorbash because of the battles they had fought, " Do you think this tale is over?" The wise dragon answered,
" You may think it's over but your wrong. It's just starting." " What do you mean it is just beging? It's over isn't it?" Irookon asked. " Some day members of your family not yet born will understand that this is merely the beginning of an epic tale that will be passed down from generation to generation." As the old man read the last line in the book he saw that his children were already asleep. He turned off the flashlight and put the book on the dresser. Then he too went to bed.
