Chapter 36
"Before you guys go, I want you to have this." Mr. O'neil said. He handed Benji a white crystal. Benji looked a bit confused by the gift. "Take it for good luck. Oh, be careful you guys." Mr. O'neil said and smiled. Benji took the crystal and handed it to Ray. She put it in a small leather pouch that she had strapped to her waist. Benji turned and looked out over the east part of the city.
"Evil, only one of us is going to walk away from this." Benji said. They moved off through the darkness of the roads. All of the lights had been somehow "killed" the night before. Benji knew that it was because of the attack on Hell-Gate. As much power as the people had, it would be no match for them. Evil was winning the fight......but now that Benji and his friends were better prepared to face him and anything that he threw at them, he'd go down to hell and stay there.
Chapter 37
"Benji?" Ray said. It had been a half hour since they had left the temple. Benji hadn't spoken anything the whole time. He looked over to her and stared her right in the eyes. "Is something wrong? You've been so quiet all of a sudden." Ray said when she saw his look.
"No....nothing is wrong. I was just thinking that's all." Benji answered.
"What about?" Ray asked.
"Oh....just about what are lives might be like if we happen to get lucky and win this fight. Evil's very strong and I'm not really sure if we should go up against him so soon." Benji said. Ray stopped walking and looked at her friend.
"Hey.....we're with you all the way. No matter what happens. Come on. We've got a fight to win." She said and moved off into the shadows. Benji rolled his eyes. He quickly caught up to her and they walked on side by side for a long time. Soon they were climbing a small hill in the road. They reached the top and stopped short. All of them gasped. Benji's mouth hung open in shock.
"The whole Earth army is getting wiped out down there! I don't believe it!" Benji said."How can this have happened so soon?"
"Oh, God!" Lita said.
"I'm with you!" Brian said. "How the heck are we suppossed to fight when the entire army can't make a dent in that castle?" They watched silently as an F-fourteen and F-twenty Phantam Fighter Jet streaked across the sky only to be blown up by a blast of energy from the main tower. Both pilots killed.
"Blast." Ben said.
"That had to hurt." Irookon said. Benji threw him a disgusted look.
"Now what?" Serena asked the open air.
"Now we go to our fight. Be carefull guys." Benji said and slowly began to walk down the hill toward the fighting. Soon the whole team stood at the base of the hill. Nothing had happened to them so far and they were all begining to think that it was going to be a bit too easy for them. Benji's eyes roamed the street with careful looks. He searched the deepest of the shadows, the darkest of them he looked into hard, but could find nothing in them. If they were being followed by anyone, then their Armor or magical powers did a good job of hiding them. Benji knew that he would feel the Warlords approaching him. He knew that Ray would also feel it. He trusted her to tell him if she did. He sighed and began to slowly walk toward the castle's direction. Benji looked up into the night-like sky and saw two jets streak across it. One was a Phantom F-fourteen fighter and the other one was a regualr F-sixteen fighter. Benji watched for another few seconds. He saw them dive low into the air and suddenly smoke was billowing from there wings. They had been hit by another energy blast from the castle. He watched as they blew into a million pieces of metal and human flesh. Both pilots were dead.
"Great." Benji said.
"Fools. They shouldn't try to fight the evil that abodes inside that place." Ray said. They continued on their walk toward their certain deaths. Soon they were only a mile or so away from Hell-Gate. Sudenly it happened.
Chapter 38
"NIGHTHAWK! YOU SHALL NOW MEET YOUR DOOM!" Someone shouted. A sword flashed out of the darkness and rushed at Benji's neck. He turned, jumped, and flipped into the air. He landed behind Ray and drew his swords. He blocked the attack and looked out into the darkness. Lord Cyclone stood before them. Anger flashed in his eyes. Hate was borne upon his face.
"Benji!" Ray shouted. She had raised her hands over her mouth as the sword came charging toward his neck. She stared wide-eyed as he flipped over her and blocked the attack. Benji countered with a front snap kick to the face and a spinning back kick to the stomach. Both hit..............hard. Lord Cyclone fell to the ground.
Chapter 39
"AAAAAAAAAAAH! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!" Nate shouted. He looked at the ground behind him. An arrow of black gold was lying on the ground. It had hit his left shoulder, but had done little damage to him for his Armor had saved his life. Nate turned and looked around. There upon the top of a building stood someone with a bow and arrow pointed at him. Nate couldn't tell who the person was, but he knew the arrow. It was the metal it was made from that he really knew. The black gold of the arrow was only used by Evil's personal guards!
"So Evil is here and he knows we're ready to fight." Brian thought. He had seen the person standing on the roof of the building and was ready to fight him or her. He then had a feeling that there was more than one of the horrid guards and so looked out over the rest of the street. He was right. There were at least twenty more of the beasts.
"I knew that you wouldn't be so stupid as to come alone, Lord Cyclone. Come on, you piece of horse hockey, fight me if you dare. You shall not get your ugly hands on my friends while I'm still alive!" Benji said. He jumped into the air and gave Lord Cyclone a flying side kick. Lord Cyclone surprized Benji by blocking the attack and coutered with a front kick to his chest. Benji felt the kick hit hard and he hit the ground, back first, even harder.
"Leave him alone! FIRE WAVE ATTACK!" Ray shouted and attacked Lord Cyclone. A spirling ball of flame shot out of her fingers, charging right for him. The flame hit Lord Cyclone in the face and he was blasted into the building behind him, giving Benji the time he needed to get up and attack.
Chapter 40
"Benji! Behind you!" Lita shouted. Benji looked behind him and saw that Brayockin was attacking Ilonton. He drew his weapons again, clashed them together, and shouted:
"NIGHTHAWK SCHREECH!" Benji screamed with all of his might as he slashed the swords downward. A bright white light enveloped the tips of the blades and then shot out at Brayockin. The white light changed into a dark black and white stream of energy and he was hit full in the chest by the defencive move. Brayockin fell to the ground out cold, smoke rising from his Armor. Benji knew that he wasn't really out cold, but he didn't really care about that right now. He looked over to Lita and she jumped into the air.
"This battle has gone far enough! Fire, Ice, Life, Venus! Get up here!" Lita said. The girls jumped up into the air and sailed toward their friend.
"Join your powers!" Benji shouted. He saw that Draconeis had decided to join in on the fight and he attacked him. Brian was dealing with Oakon and Lord Cyclone. He kicked Lord Cyclone in the face and punched Oakon in the mouth, knocking both men down. He then jumped into the air, flipped, and landed right next to Angus. By this time Brayockin was up and ready to fight again. He jump side kicked Brian in the face, but was instantly knocked down by Brian's side block. At the same time that Brian did the side block, he also kicked the man in the grion and punched him in the face, breaking his nose.
"ON BEHALF OF THE PLANET JUPITER, I CALL UPON MY POWERS! HELP ME DEFEAT THESE FOUL FOES AND END THEIR EVIL FOREVER! I CALL UPON THE JUPITER THUNDER BOLT CRAAAAAASH!" Lita shouted as she summoned her powers. The green jewel on her head band began to glow brightly and then her power awoke with fury. It was out this that the thunder bolts came from. They swarmed around her as if they were angry bees and then crashed toward the ground and the fray.
"BY THE POWER OF FIRE, I SHALL DEFEAT ANY EVIL THAT THREATENS MY WORLD. I CALL UPON THE FIRE WAVE ATTAAAAACK!" Ray shouted as her spirling fire ball shot from her hands. Her power joined with Lita's. The two swirled and danced in full fury of the other. The thunder bolts became red from the fire and the fire became brighter from the thunder bolts and still they charged toward the ground.
"BY THE POWER OF ICE, I WILL SEND ALL EVIL BEINGS BACK TO WHEREVER THEY HAVE COME FROM! I CALL UPON THE ICE WINDS BLAAAAAAST!" Amy shouted. Her power did the same thing that Ray's and Lita's did. Amy's power made the fire and thunder bolts glow with a blueish light. They began to cloud and form little crystals of fire and thunder bolts from the freezing power of the ice.
"ON BEHALF OF PLANET VENUS, I SHALL SEND ALL EVIL UPON THIS WORLD BACK TO THE ROCK UNDER WHICH IT CRAWLED FROM! I CALL UPON THE VENUS CRESENT ATTAAAAAAAAAACK!" Mina shouted at the top of her lungs. Her power joined with the others. With the heat of Venus, the three other powers gained their nearly complete intensity and rushed the ground with speed and deadly power.
"BY THE POWER GIVEN TO ME, I SHALL END THE LIVES OF ANY EVIL CREATURE THAT WALKS THIS PLANET! I CALL UPON THE LIFE FORCE ATTAAAAAACK!" Serena shouted. Her power joined with the other four powers and then a blinding white light shot toward Lord Cyclone and the other Evil War Lords. With the Life Force Attack from Serena, the powers gained their full strength and rushed at Lord Cyclone with the fury of a huricane.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Lord Cyclone shouted as the blast of energy hit him full in the chest. He was rocketed backwards into a building and then hit the ground. He felt his body collapse and then turn to dust. In a moment he was dead. Smoke rose off the pile of dust. The same with the other four War Lords. Lita and her friends landed on the ground a few feet from Benji. He looked at their faces and saw that they were scared to death. They had never killed anyone before and they didn't know that they had enough power inside of themselves to do what they had done to the Warlords. Benji began to walk toward the Castle Hell-Gate. The others followed. When they were out of sight, each pile of dust moved to the center of the street and then rebuilt the body it once was. Lord Cyclone looked after the team of fighters and said:
"Run if you can, NightHawk. When you and I meet again, it will be your last fight with me and the Warlords of Evil. Until we meet again, my worthy enemy. Good luck to you and your team.....you're gonna need it. But for now.....fare thee well. Fare thee well! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!" Lord Cyclone said.
Chapter 41
"Benji, you okay?" Ray said as they jogged toward the Castle that they would most surely die in. Benji looked over to her and smiled at her.
"Yeah.....I'm okay. Just thinking that's all." Benji said.
"Oh. What about?" Ray said.
"The fight......with Lord Cyclone and the others.......it was too easy. They would have knocked at least half of us out before we would have even begun winning the fight." Benji said. Ray slowed her jogging and looked at Benji with great fear and concern in her eyes.
"Do you mean to say that Lord Cyclone and his buddies aren't dead?" Ray asked. Benji could tell that she was scared to death.
"In fact I don't even think you guys hurt them one darn bit. That might have been a fake. You know? An act?" Benji said.
"We're in trouble."
"Not if we can kill Evil and this time make sure he stays dead." Benji said. "With him dead, and this time for good, I think the Warlords will return to being good people and not evil."
"That's a bunch of horse hockey, Benji! We killed Evil the first time that we met him and they were still as evil and as crule as they were when he was alive!"
"No.......Evil didn't die. You guys merely wounded him. He's healed now and he's ticked off. If we can't kill him.....then no one can."
"I'm sorry......I didn't mean to yell at you the way that I did. It's just that I'm.........well.....I'm scared that I might die after this fight." Ray said.
"I know.......I, too, am a bit scared of fighting Evil this time. But one way or the other, he ain't gonna walk away from this one!" Benji said. Ray stopped and looked at Benji. His eyes showed her nothing but fear. He tried to hide it from her, tried to make her think that she was seeing things, but it didn't work. Ray nodded and hugged Benji. They turned and soon caught up with the others. Soon they could see the great and deadly castle Hell-Gate looming up out of the ground before them. They had less than a mile to go before their final fight with Evil. Like a huge rock that has been buried in a deep hole, the castle loomed before them like a giant pillar of stone. Benji stopped, and when he did so, everyone else did the same. He stared long and hard at the target in front of them. His eyes burned in the dead coldness of the night. Like a fire they blazed forth with great flames of brightness. Hate, death, doom, fear, and iron cold vengence shone in his eyes. A low growl started deep in his throat and rose to the center of his mouth.
"The time has come. Let us go forth now and finish what we started!" Benji spoke with a cold and deadly voice. Death, hate, and revenge. All were woven into the words that he spoke and Ray could feel the tension in his body growing in wrath and hate. She looked at Benji for a moment and then spoke to him:
"Benji, calm down. Evil will not win this fight, but you must be calm in order to win the fight. To be angered by him is to let yourself be killed. "The angery man defeats himself in battle as well as in life." Don't let the anger overcome you and kill you in the fight. Come. We have a battle to win." Benji closed his eyes and turned to her. He opened them and they shone out like cold ice in the dead air of the night.
"You know me well, Fire." Benji said with a deep vocie. They moved off again. Soon they were within a half mile of the castle when Benji stopped and froze.
Chapter 42
"Benji?" Amy said. She had seen his sudden freezing of movement and wanted to make sure that he was alright. No answer came to her. Benji didn't move, didn't speak, didn't so much as blink. He was still and lifeless like a cold stone. Hard and solid like iron. Death like and cold as ice. At last he spoke:
"I feel something................" Benji said, but his voice trailed off into the night.
"What is it?" Mina asked.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Ray shouted and pressed her hands up to her head, palms against her ears, fingers gripping her head tightly. She then snapped her head up and dropped her hands to her sides. Her looked matched Benji's exactly. The two stared out into the night like ice carved statues of the humans that they were. Nothing shone forth in their eyes. They were both still as stone. Cold as ice. In death they walked upon the night. They were frozen for all time in the looks and positions that they were in.
"Benji! What the heck is wrong with you?! Answer me!" Amy said.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Ray shouted and tackled Amy!
Chapter 43
Brian drew his swords and tried to hit something that was charging toward Amy, but had to stop and let Ray tackle her. He didn't want to cut Amy with his razor sharp sword blades. Ray and Amy landed on the street a few feet from where they each had been standing a moment before. An arrow lay in the street where Amy had been standing, point enbeded into the concrete. The arrow was made of black gold. "What the heck?! Brian get down!" Benji shouted and drew his swords and swiped them at the air. A loud thud was heard and an arrow went speeding toward the window of a building. It crashed through the window with a deafening shattering sound. In another instant the building blew up into a billowing coloum of smoke and fire!
"Holy horse hockey! What in the heck was that?!" Brian said as he climbed to his feet. Another one came at Brian and he saw it. Before he could react to it, a throwing star whizzed in front of his face and hit the arrow. The star and the arrow both flew past Brian and hit the street a few feet from him. The street the exploded into a million pieces of rubble and debris. Brian turned to the left and there in front of him, upon a tall building, stood a blackened figure. The person was wearing a dark cape, black pants, a black shirt. Brian's eyes went wide!
Chapter 44
"Pegasus." Brian said. The person on the building jumped, flipped, and landed two feet from Brian.
"Hello, Death. Where you off to at this time of night?" Pegasus said. Brian looked at the person in front of him. His eyes shown brightly with concern for his friend.
"You don't need to be involved in this, John." Brian said.
"This is Pegasus?" Serena said. She looked over to the crimefighter. "Why don't you take off your mask, John?" She said.
"Death, why have you told these people about us?" Pegasus said.
"They're my friends. We can trust them not to betray us. Besides, I saved their lives once and they did the same to me." Brian said.
"Damn you!" Pegasus said. "Alright. If you think that we can trust them all....fine. But make sure that they call us by our crimefighting names when we are in our costumes."
"No problem!" Serena said.
"Don't mean to interrupt this, but can we get the heck out of here?" Benji said. "I don't want to have to fight with Evils' personal guards any more."
"You got it" Pegasus said. He reached down to his right hip and pulled out a box like object. This he raised to his mouth and said:
"Tri-Star, this is Pegasus. Evacuate proceedure. Code: four. Condition: red. Activate on my mark. Engage!" In less than ten seconds, the Tri-Star landed a few feet from them and they all climbed into it. John was at the controls, Brian sat next to him.
Chapter 45
"You kids all straped in and ready to go?" John said. A chorus of yeses were called out to him and he hit the controls. The jet began to take off. Soon they were flying toward the castle Hell-Gate. Within a few seconds or so they could see the castle looming before them like a huge guard ready to fight all who challange it. John flew over the castle twice and circled. He found a spot to land and everyone got out. Brian looked over at the castle. He stared at it with a grim look in his eyes.
"John, I want you to take the Tri-Star and get the heck out of here." Benji said. "I don't want you in this fight."
"What? I........" John tried to say something, but was cut short by Benji.
"That's an order, buddy! Do it or I'll personally kick your butt from here to the moon!" Benji said.
"Blast." John said and without another word, he climbed back into the Tri-Star and left. Brian was the only one that knew that John wouldn't obey Benji. The team turned around and walked across the street. They stood in front of the massive doors of Hell-Gate. The entire place brooded with evil. They could feel it. Benji and Ray were the ones that could feel it more than anyone else in the entire team of fighters.
"The time has come to fight the final battle between Evil and Good. Only one can walk away from this fight........only one can survive the hell of this hell that we are about to plunge into and may never return to the light of this world again. Only one can live to tell about it. May it be the side of Light. Let's go!" Benji said.
"Where in the heck did all that come from?" Lita said.
"What come from? I don't understand." Benji said.
"That little speach you just gave to the open air." Lita said.
"Oh, that. I don't know." Benji said.
"Come on guys. Let's do our job and then let's go home." Nate said. The group moved off toward the doors again. Benji, Nate, Brian, Ben, and Benjamin all walked up to the doors. They began to push on them with all of their might, but nothing moved.
"How the heck are we supposed to get inside this pile of rock when we can't even open the door?" Benji said.
"Try knocking!" Ray called to them. Benji felt a grin appear upon his face, so did Nate. They turned to the massive doors and kicked them as hard at they could. THUD! THUD! The doors moved an inch.
"Yeeeeeeessssss! Now we can get into this place." Brian said. Nate and Benji contiuned to push upon the doors. Soon they swung open and the group was able to get a look inside the dreaded place. Though not for long. Suddenly out of nowhere the wind that had not been blowing at all picked up speed and blasted them all at a solid one hundred and fifty miles an hour!
"What in the devil is going on?!" Cilth shouted.
"Get down!" Benji shouted, but before any of them could drop to the ground, they were thrown by the Winds of Hell into building walls and windows several feet away from the castle! Benji and Nate were the only ones who landed in the street.
"Oh, man!" Brian shouted as he went sailing right through a glass window! "AAAAAAAH!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Cilth shouted as she went flying through another window that was right beside the one that Brian went through. Glass lay everywhere on the floor of the store that the two and gone into. They were in big trouble if they couldn't stop the wind from blowing like it was! Suddenly something flew through the open doors and it was followed by several other things.
