GTA workshop: day 1

Sep 05, 2006 22:42

So, I attended the first day of my ten day GTA workshop. It was interesting, and surprisingly not boring. Although, I did keep yawning after our morning break. Dratted 8:30 start time. Which, of course, means that I got up at 6:30 since I don't like to be rushed in the morning.

I did finally meet all the people in the department that I"ve been emailing for the last two months and got my parking pass. Looking at the parking map, I almost want an 8:30 class so I can actually get a close parking spot...not that any are terribly close to any of my buildings...oh well, big university.
Anyhow, I also met all the other first year TAs in Slavics today, all 6? of them. I found that I can easily talk to each of them and get along with them. So, at least time spent in the office should be interesting.

Tomorrow is day two, which means we have to give our first lesson to our peer groups. Its only 5 minutes but we had to write up detailed lesson plans just the same. I made some great visuals with graph paper, sharpies, and highlighters. But since the part of the lesson where I would use them is at the very end, I don't know if anyone else will get to see them.

Oh well.

Anyway, It's almost bed time.
g'night
