July 4th & Reenactment

We had the Battle of Concord Reenactment at Bothell Landing today. Apparently, the bridge is so similar that they just *had* to do it. Picture taking conditions were not optimal as they were across a small river and under shade. The day being hot and very bright and sunny. But here we go...

The Regulars & band marching towards Concord & Boston.

The Patriots were asked to disperse, but as they were doing that, a shot was fired. Which side did it, no one knows but the Regulars responded.

And the marched across the Bridge at Concord and on to Boston

Of course there was a response and the Red Coats were harried... attacked...

and as they left Concord, to slow the patriots down, dismantled the Bridge.

Locals did not like that. Nope. Not one bit.

And thus the Revolutionary War began.

BTW... yes, I'm aware that there is some contention as to just where the American Revolutionary War started. It was a fun spectacle with narration and music ably provided by the Washington Scottish Pipe band for the British Regulars and a young man 9couldn't have been more than 12) with fife and a drum for the New England Militia.
