the minor fall and the major lift

Well, Kim Beazley just made his budget reply. I missed the actual budget on Tuesday cause I was out rock starring it up *cough cough* but I got the impression it was pretty crap. Pointless tax cuts ($10 a week for people who aren't uber rich Liberal party donours), lots more money for roads and weapons and great piles left around to buy votes with next year. And incentives to have more babies - though they were pretty crap incentives.

As far as Kim Beazley's reply goes, I was expecting the worst, has one comes to do with him. I was pleasently surprised. He delivered a firey speech, filled with expectation for when he's prime minister that, although it started off with alot of rhetoric, ended up very well highlighting the governments shorfallings when it came to their support for anyone who doesn't run a multinational company. He said good stuff about establishing national high speed broardband networks, meaningful childcare funding and even a few mentions about tackling climate change and developing new fules (though by that he may just mean new oil reserves). So yes, I was rather impressed, although he did say some fairly backward stuff about keeping out foreign apprentices and he did support the pointless tax cuts. In all, i gave him 80%.

The analyst on the 7:30 report said he did crap but anyway, it's a win win situation. People were saying this was a make or break for him so if the rest of labor think he's crap, he'll get the boot and we'll get a decent leader and if he was good then we have a decent, Liberal beating leader. Goodness.

Found out today that apparently our band was the onyl one that played on Tuesday night that didn't get through to the next round of the competition. Yay for us. All the feedback I've managed to scrounge second hand was something about not being not connecting with the audience. Whilst the majority of the stuff ups (including at least one very noticeable one) were my fault, I think audience conectedness is somethign I can say i was least bad at. Not that trying to shrug off blame is worth much. Meh for it all.
