Awesome Stuff (actually read it!)

We went bookstore hopping today, and I found some cool books. One is a little pocket-sized Better World Shopping Guide, also found online at http://www.betterworldshopper.org/rankings.html which actually is cooler than it looks at first glance: it's a centralized compilation of research on which brands to buy and which not to buy, and some of it's surprising, such as, it's WAY better to buy Colgate than Aquafresh if you're going to purchase conventional toothpaste. And, like, Boca Burgers is actually a bad, evil company, (!) but Windex and Fantastik aren't so bad.
And, don't buy Nestle or Kraft for all you're worth. It's fun to play around with. I don't know about everybody else, but although I try to shop conscientiously, I would never have the time to put into researching hundreds of brands to find out things like Colgate being better than Aquafresh, or American Airlines and Delta being way better than Continental and Northwest. And suddenly it's right at my fingertips, for nearly everything I can think of buying. on that note, I also found the Freecycle Network, http://www.freecycle.org/ which I hadn't heard of, and which is also fantastically awesome and reminds me of oberlin. Rather less on that note, I found a mousse cookbook, which is shaped like a moose. it has all kinds of mousses in it, among them grapefruit, which sounds disgusting until you realize that it's grapefruit and gin (like a Tom Collins, if I'm remembering that correctly, which I might not be, but it sounds good anyway... ?) :)
