Landscape design
Fog returns to tint the city,
covers the houses in a gradient wash.
Grass greens turn to musty
sages, and sunny yellows drain, pale,
while the sky is white space
waiting for a caption.
Only the lemon tree is saturated, lifting its fruit
out toward my back door, cloaked in a blue filter
with branches wet-brown and swaying
toward the ground.
Lemons are ready to fall.
The city in its white veil
waits till the day it can pluck
the ripe fruit.
