i'm gonna ditto that i like the one with the wave.
for the two sets here, i like the lines of the second one better, but it looks more foxy than coyote-y. but then i also like the expressions of the first set.
Yes! In fact for a lot of my first sketches, Charlie was my model. My classmates encouraged me to go more abstract / cartoony since my realism isn't realistic ;) But Charlie will probably be my model for most of the poses and coloration. I also have a bunch of kids' picture books from the library. =)
Yay! I thought I was detecting similarities between your art and some of the dorky/playful poses I've seen of him, but it could have just been a successful capture of general multifaceted coyoteism. Looking forward to seeing more.
Charlie is adorably dorky. I wish I could work in some of those silly faces he makes while shaking himself off after being in water etc. Where his ears go flying everywhere and his cheeks are hanging out funny. hehe. I think that Coyotes have an amazing range of expressions from the silly and playful, to dorky, to evil and conniving. That is probably why they have the trickster reputation--that and they are intelligent and social too--and make such haunting noises.

You know of the Daily Coyote, right? http://www.dailycoyote.net/ If not -- might be a fine source of reference photos &/or inspiration. :)
