Long Weekend

Well I've had one of THOSE Mondays - so am thinking about the weekend to cheer me up!

Thursday was Bowling for Soup (and assorted bands) at the Cambridge Corn Ex - was a great night and the first time Boyf and I have really got out for a while. Everything lately has either been panto rehearsals or 'oh mi god we've forgotten to do X and are running out of time'... Despite the fact that one of the bands on the list was 'Son of Dork' who have an ex member of Busted (UK boy band) so the average age of some of the audience was surprising - when the boyf turned to me and pointed out our combined ages came to the combined ages of about 4/5 of the munchkins in front of us - Son of D came on - we went to the bar and the audience squealed like hamsters on helium. Only downside is there were a bunch of teenage boys in the mosh pit being prats and pushing people about - and with so many munchkins in the audience large swathes of it kept falling over - was petrified someone was going to get trampled.

Went to work on Friday, slightly deaf from night before (which muffled the pain of being at work on a Friday) - got home, picked up some stuff, dropped in on my parents and then to Boyf's parents to pick up Boyf's brother - and to sort out the fact we'd managed to get double booked for Saturday night. Boyf's parents were very kind and understanding about this (to Boyf's and my relief) and that helped us sort everything out to (hopefully) great satisfaction all round. Alex aka SlickMink aka 'Brother of Boyf' ST'd a new tabletop game - I'm a little rusty 'cause I haven't played table top for a while but really enjoyed myself. I'm hoping I get back into the swing of things fairly quickly...

Saturday - this was a 'run around like crazy' day - fun but involved performing a lot of things in a particular order and hoping that everything went according to plan...it did (to great sighs of relief all round). Boyf went to Stamford to see his physiotherapist - he suffers from curvature of the sine - since he started physio he's grown 3 inches!. On the way back he collected two friends from Peterbrough, collected me (and the tickets for Saturday night), dropped tickets off with his parents so that they could use them and then drove down to London where we met Nick and Mark (friend of boyf I've briefly seen once about a year or so ago). Wandered around the guitar exhibition at Harrods (mentally humming "If I was a rich man" - despite the fact I cant actually play guitar #sheepish#). Mark went and got Babs and I a cup of tea and a scone , while Matt and Martin ambled round a bit. In the words of Boyf - ""at that price you dont eat it you frame it" (no comment). London game - was good, saw a lot of people and some good friends and got quite a lot done...sadly not everything I needed to do BUT Boyf was feeling the effects of the physio - AND he was driving bless him,so we left 'early' and we got home about 1am'ish' as was.

Sunday - my 'run round and do all the washing, ironing and general maintenance I haven't done since we've been out damn near every night this week' day. #grins#. Also involved some much needed pampering of the boyf - who was tired, sore and more than deserved it. He spent a lot of his time with World of Warcraft (which sadly I can watch him play for hours) - but he did relinquish the laptop to me for a while so I could play - he has a level 21 rogue, I've just got my druid to level 7...am going to have to see if I can distract him to get some more game time in! -lol-.

I'm out of reading material at the moment - a lot of the authors I read aren't published in the UK so I end up ordering it from amazon (com and co.uk) and then waiting about 14 days for it to turn up from the USA...but better than no books at all.

That was more or less my weekend (though this is the condensed version and leaves out a great deal!)
