What I did on my holidays
slept in a lot of the beds - a ahort sleep in a Travelodge before the ferry (as you'd expect), a berth on the ferry (small and a bit cold - strange to be sleeping in the same room as my husband but not actually with him), my own bed in my parents house (smaller than our own bed at hom, the Camden Court Hotel, the Radisson Blu in Cork, another berth, another Travelodge Bed, the other bed in travelodge room (the first one was too soft), the Village hotel in Swindon (much better than I'd expected - lovely rooms and comfy beds) and (tomorrow) a small hotel in Malmsbury. Well, a change is as good as a rest!
had dinner at FXBs with a small cadre of friends for luciddestiny's birthday. Beforehand we had cocktails in the Camden Court, and then a quick one in Toners, which reminded me why I love Irish pubs! Couldn't have the lovely bleu steak I would have usually ordered, but my chicken was yummy and chocolate pudding was delicious. A great easy evening, with brilliant chat.
celebrated my Mom's birthday over the Easter weekend with lots of presents (lamps, jam etc), cake and yummy alcohol-free sparkling wine.
had dinner at Il Padrino, with a select few, to continue the birthday celebrations - good food and lovely to see Cat (who I hadn't seen in ages) and Manuella (who I had never met!).
celebrated Easter with an amazing meal by my mom.
got emotional over big things and little things.
had dinner (several times) in my parent's favourite restaurant in Kilkenny, Langtons.
went shopping in Urlingford, Thurles, Naas and Dublin. Bought fish, lamps, clothes, chocolates....
got conferred with my degree (that's the last time I'm mentioning it) and had dinner at the Berkley Court.
went out to take photos locally - churches, graveyards, round towers, hills - Ireland's so beautiful!
looked out car windows a lot.
had lunch with an old friend of Mom's and her daughter - I could barely keep up with the chatter!
sat in the garden, with the family and the neightbours dog, enjoying the incredible sunshine.
slept late and went to bed early.
loved the nursery that my parents have made for me, especially the quilts my mom made and the rocking chair.
became obsessed with Spider Solitare.
watched luciddestiny be wonderful, including sorting out my parents' laptops and skype.
Went to the local pub.
had a very British lunch in a very British pub, watching the royal wedding.
Laughed a lot.
talked endlessly about names (still no decisions made).
met my parents new car.
tried to soak up as much "how to be a great parent" info from my own, before I'm one myself
had a late lunch in the Avoca centre near the M7, which is gorgeous!
Still left to do is a lovely wedding tomorrow and the next day a trip to see relatives and then back to Shoreham to see if our house is still there!
