Posting at 4pm? What can this mean. Only that I'm having my special treat (an afternoon off in a coffee shop with the internet and some nice hot chocolate) to celebrate the END of my EXAMS!
Yes, you've heard it right, I've finished my stupid OU exams, and (assuming all goes well) have completed my degree! I can't quite believe it, to be honest, perhaps because today's exam was the easier of the two this year, and as a result I feel like I've got away with something. But finished I am, with nothing to do but put my feet up until December, when I'll get my results and can plan my graduation (exam results permitting).
Thus endeth all the sunny Saturday afternoons wasted sitting in our office at home, studying and grumping. Thus openeth up our weekends for social activities - more trips to see friends, more options to have friends down to our house and do nice things with my wonderful, supportive, patient but firm husband
luciddestiny who has been my rock throughout the last three years.
Oh, and also, this marks the end of my boring you to death with talk of exams, TMAs, modules, EMAs, points and projects. I'll just be talking about work from now on ;)
The last few weeks have been a bit of a blur, really. Racking my brains, I can't think of very much we did. A big highlight was when Paul and Anke came down with Victor. He's really just the most charming 6 month old in the world, full of chatter and lots of looking around. Once he was fed, we went to the Crown and Anchor for a long and late lunch which was wonderful! We saw them the previous week also, for Anke's birthday, when we had dinner in the La Giraffe, which was good fun. From a people-watching experience, it was really interesting, when I got there by myself, and sat beside two other guys whose other halves hadn't arrived, it was all very awkward, but when all our partners arrived, we suddenly launched into manic conversation. It was a bit Gouda (a How I met your Mother reference...)
I haven't been to Dublin since the holiday (still haven't blogged about - I KNOW!) and am missing all my Dublin peeps. However, I've had some lovely phonecalls, IM chats and letters - the last predominantly from Maria, whose letters have the very important job of cheering me up when I get home from work. Hopefully, now that I have some time, I can write back. Ah, free time. Blissful.
That's sadly about it, I think. Work has been ok - not as hectic as previously, but plenty happening. Shoreham is gorgeous - went to the Saturday market a few weeks ago (on once a month) and saw some ladies doing traditional sword dancing, listened to a blues band, bought some local produce (fruit, veg, meat, salve) and enjoyed the sunshine. Lovely day. Slightly tarnished by an lady taking her top off in the graveyard. Hmmm - eek!
Oh and we watched some films
TRON - surprising!
Hot Tub Time Machine - not surprising!
Date Night - occasional laughs
Prince of Persia - occasional groans
And some TV
Nikita - would watch it if it came on again, but not stunning
Hawaiii-5-0 - would turn it off if it came on again, stunningly irritating
How I Met Your Mother - back on form, after a slow start, but let's just get to the meeting-the-mother bit
Masterchef - I could watch the quarter finals endlessly for the rest of my life. Nyom
Lip Service - really?
Glee - patchy.
(don't judge us - my brain is mush after 2 or 3 hours of studying after work - I can only watch programmes and films where the message/plot is denoted by people holding up banners!)
But, this is the end of all that foolishness. Art, People, Life, Travel and finally sorting out the guest room - it all awaits me! :)
