When I got to Hawaii, the first thing that Jess and I did once we got my luggage, was go to Zippy's. She talked me into french fries and a supremely wonderful slice of chocolate cake. Oh god, I wasn't sure if I hated or loved her at that moment, but good grief. Hah.

The next day, Jess had to go to work until 5:30pm. Knowing me, I hate staying indoors when there's plenty to do outside.

I took advantage of the moment and figured that I might as well call the guy who I met at the San Francisco airport. His name is Richard. I gave him a call, and he was just finishing up lunch, and said that he would be more than happy to spend time with me this afternoon. By whatever coincidence, he happen to end up living in the same town that Jess lives in. Thus, around an hour later, he picked me up in his car. We listened to island music, which I wish we had radio stations for back on the mainland more consistently.

Richard and I made a stop by his apartment, which was really nice. Since we had talked about surf and bodyboarding back at the airport, he was aware of my interest in learning a bit more about the local scene in surf. He had dozens of pictures of North Shore surf. Scarey shit.

So we talked about that, and about some other various things while waiting for his laundry. After being there for a little while, we decided to head out.

Ok, let me track back. This guy randomly approaches me at the airport and we stir up conversation... he gives me his number... and the next day he's nice enough to pick me up, and even let me into his apartment... and then what??

Yeah, and then what.

He took me to North Shore, and showed me ALL the surf spots and beautiful beaches there. I was in awe. "Now you can say that you've seen Pipe, Sunset and Waimea [sp?]." I was so stoked. We got off at where Sunset is at, and he walked me all the way down the beach, past Pipe, up till Rock Piles, and he told me about each surf spot. It was a long walk down the beach. Very long and tiring. I was in my god damn jeans and a button up t-shirt. I felt so incredibly silly. All I wanted to do was get into the water.

When we went back, he then took me to Waimea. What a beautiful spot with a great vibe. There's a huge ass rock there, and a lot of people like to jump off of it into the water. They say that if you walk up and walk back down without jumping, that it's bad luck, and that if you're not up on the rock and get splashed by someone who jumped, you have to go jump too. Haha. It was awesome watching all these people of all ages jumping off of this and doing crazy fun stuff. They have a great lively attitude about it. Each time everyone cringing in pain and a long "Ohhh!" whenever a brave [or stupid?] soul bears the belly flop from such a height. Ouch! Talk about crazy.

Richard and I just sat there and talked for quite some time, both wishing that we had prepared for the beach by bringing some towels and bathing suits. Little did we know.

I got back to Jess's place before 5:30pm, and Richard ended up being late to his dinner reservation - which I felt bad about. But on the way back from North Shore, Richard had told me that he was in the Navy. Who knew. Even Jess asked me if he was in the Military, and I said no. hah. Opps.

When Jess got back from work, we eventually got to Safeway. That was mucho fun. Jess made her kickass Asparagas soup. OhmygawdYUM! We had that, some great bread, corn on the cob, carrot slices with buffalo sauce, and orange juice. Hah. I thought it was great fun. We ate and put on a movie, and as soon as I was done eatting, I fell asleep. I was so tired.

Jess ended up having to work again today, and I was very hesitant about asking Richard to hang out again or not. But I eventually called him up to see what he was up to. He said he would call back, and he did, and he invited me to go to a BBQ with him and his friends on the beach. I didn't really want to, since it was suppose to be with his friends and I didn't want to intrude. But he said he wanted me to go, so how could I resist?

I went... and I had such an amazing time. All of his friends seemed to be military, and they were so incredibly nice and welcoming. We ate a lot of food, and got into the water, played around with a body board, caught short body surfing waves right along the shore, walked along on top of the coral and algae. My big toe got cut up. Ouchies. It was great to finally get into the water. I was there at this beautiful place, with such wonderful people, and things were just almost perfect. All day while I was out there, I couldn't help but to think of Jess. The first two days without her, wishing she could be a part of what I did with Richard. I think she would have appreciated these people that I was hanging out with and had just as much fun. Being there with them made me want to be a part of all of this forever, and makes me really sad to think that I have to go home to such loneliness and the people who are so different back there. Why does it seem so hard to find such easy going fun people over there, when I already met a nice guy and his friends without any effort here? WHY!? Haha.

And also, I got a free ride while I'm here too. Apparently a friend of Jess and/or Ben, had a car while he was living here, and now it's being taken away, and the dude is going out of the country, and is allowing whoever to use it before it has to be returned... so... they're letting me use it... and oh my god... it's one of those convertable Spyder Mitsubishi's... and... it's fucking fast. It either has some kind of turbo, or something with the engine that makes it do the Vroom Vroom thing. It's amazing. Nice blue exterior, black leather interior... cd player. Oh my gosh, yum. That's my new dream car, I don't care what anyone says. I think I just mainly like how fast it is. I never drove anything that was fast before, and my mom has her Volvo with turbo, and I thought THAT was fast. Forget that. ::sighs with a big cheesy smile:: Yeah....

I want to go to a Luau [sp?] while I'm here, and I know where I want to go for it. Paradise Cove, I believe is what it is called... and I would love for Jess to go, but I need to make sure that they at least serve a vegitarian course for her, and I might want to invite Richard to go as well, because he has been so incredibly welcoming and has gone out of his way for me when I'm basically no more than a stranger to him. I truly adore that.

I'm hoping that before I leave to go home that Richard will take me to Sandy's [sp?] [and hopefully I wont end up in the hospital!], and also get the chance to go through the pineapple maze at the Dole plantation since he also hasn't been through it yet. I might have to get Jess to come along on that if we can all work it out. But I'm really glad that I met Richard so that I was able to do as much as I have while Jess was busy with her job and such. How perfect can it get?

Well I hope I can get Jess to do something tonight, because I hate staying all cooped up inside when there's so much to do around here. For once, I actually really would like to go clubbing for whatever reason, but gee... what can I say. Jess is definitely not the type to go out to do that, so I'll have to figure something out. Maybe once she gets back we can make some dinner then go out to watch the hookers or something. Anything. Hah. I'm just waiting for her to get back now. I should go take a shower in the mean time though.

Aloha. =)
