Love that you bring up quantum universes, with multiple Peters, Sylars and whatnot, as a result of time traveling. I think that's a topic/phenomenon that's not explored enough in fic.

That fracturing of realities is the basic for rp_shadesofgray. We play that the edges between the AUs have been shattered and timelines cross there, so we can have multiples of various characters. Sylar will tell anyone that time travel doesn't work. All you do is create a reality where it didn't happen and another where it did.
