Leon R. Bartz, 76, of Oak Hill, Dallas, passed away Friday at his home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Palko) Bartz. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School. Before retiring, he was employed by Charles and Mary Music Co., Wilkes-Barre, as a musical instrument repairman and plater. Mr. Bartz was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harvey’s Lake, Daddow Isaacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas, and was a former volunteer fireman for the Jonathon R. Davis Fire Co., Idetown.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Geraldine Sestak; daughter, Lynn Bartz Simko, Dallas; brothers, Joseph and Edward; sister, Dolores Borowski, all of Wilkes-Barre.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church, with the Rev. E. Francis Kelly and the Rev. Louis A. Grippe, concelebrating.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call Sunday 4 to 7 p.m. Legion services will be Sunday at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 130 Wilkes-Barre Twp. Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
