Part 8
Takato and Kou were sitting inside the small cafe in the middle of the town, waiting for their best friend to arrive.
Akihito was running. He cursed himself for having overslept. However, who could blame him. He was so excited about today that he had had a hard time sleeping the night before. He hoped that his friends would not be too mad at him. He waved enthusiastically when he saw Kou and Takato already there inside the cafe. “Sorry guys for making you wait.” Akihito apologised sheepishly as he got seated in one of the vacant chairs.
“It’s okay. You’re not that late anyway. Right, Kou?” smiled Takato as he glanced towards his black haired friend.
“Yup, yup. 10 minutes of waiting is nothing. Don’t worry, you still haven’t broken your highest record yet.” Kou grinned as he started to tease his friend.
“Hm,hm, I agree.” Takato nodded in agreement. “I remembered that time clearly. Because Aki had forgotten about our get-together, we had to wait for 2 loooonnnng hours.”
Akihito groaned. He did not like it when his friends mentioned about his past indiscretions. “Come on guys, you knew I could not help it that time. I was distracted.”
“Yeah right, with your new camera! And you just had to develop all the films one hour before our meeting time.” smirked Kou. “As your best buddies, we know it take hours for you to get out once you’re inside your sanctuary dark room.”
“Hey, I had to see if the camera was as good as they said.” defended Aki, embarrassed. “Anyway, let’s forget about that, okay. It was only a one time event. And I recall that I had already made it to you guys by treating lunch for each one of you.”
“Hahaha, that’s true.” Both Takato and Kou laughed. “But it’s just so funny. When you said that you were late because you were distracted, first thing we thought was that you had finally managed to hit on a hot girl somewhere on the road. However, instead of a babe, it was a camera. Well, we should have realised that it was our Aki we were talking about.”
“Well, sorry to disappoint you guys that I happen to love my camera more than girls. Now that you guys stopped bringing my embarrassing past, I actually have super good news that I can’t wait to tell the both of you.” said Akihito as he grinned ear-to-ear.
“Really? What is it?” asked both Kou and Takato simultaneously.
“My father asked me to be the photographer for this very important event tonight to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Koga Enterprises. Ooohhh, I am so excited right now.” His friends could practically see him jumping in his seat.
“Wow, that’s big Aki.” commented Takato. “I mean everyone knows about Koga Enterprises.”
“Congrats, Aki.” Kou said while he patted Akihito’s shoulder.
“Thanks you guys.”
The three best friends chatted and caught up with each others’ latest news for a while until Takato brought out the latest news about his change of relationship status with his girlfriend, Mai. Apparently, after being together for 4 years, he decided it was time. He realised there was no other girl that was a perfect as Mai. So two days ago, Takato had collected his courage to propose to Mai. Knowing that his girlfriend, now fiancée liked Chinese food, he’d treat her to dinner in one of the high class Chinese restaurant.
“Then, then what happened?” asked Akihito eagerly. Takato bashfully confessed that he had hidden the engagement ring inside one of the Chinese fortune cookies. He wouldn’t forget Mai’s expression when she opened her cookie, only to find a ring inside. It was during that moment that he had proposed to her.
“Boy, you guys could say that 5 seconds before she answered ‘yes’ was the scariest moment of my life.” recalled Takato as he sipped his drink. “I am just so afraid. I kept thinking to myself ‘what if I did it wrong?’,’ what if she’s not ready?’. Fortunately, it all ended well.”
“Wow, two good news in one day! Today must be my lucky day. Cheers for both of my best friends.” Kou grinned as he raised his glass.
“Congrats, Takato. Send Mai my regards too.” smiled Akihito, genuinely happy for his best friend. “By the way, what time is it now?”
“It’s 4 pm. Why?” replied Kou after checking his watch.
“Oh crap. Sorry guys, I have to go now. Need to prepare for the big event tonight.” said Akihito as he excused himself.
“Woah, you really can’t wait to be there, can you?” commented Takato as he saw his friend quickly finish his whole drink.
“Of course! I’ve been waiting for this like forever. So see you guys soon.” Akihito waved his friends goodbye before he strode out.
Ironically, he had not yet known that the big event he had been keenly anticipating would be the doom in his life.

The day was finally here - most important day in Takato’s life when he would quit his bachelor status. As Akihito captured images after images, he noticed how happy the couple was. The wedding itself was not grand as both Mai and Takato had preferred a simple wedding, but it clearly showed the strong bond of their love and attraction towards each other.
Akihito listened as Kou rambled how one day he wished to experience this happy day too. He even suggested that both Akihito and Takato could be his best man and then they would take turns for Akihito’s wedding.
Akihito took a deep breath and sighed. With his current situation where he had two of the most possessive men in the world, aka Asami and Ouji trying to claim him without his consent, it was not Akihito’s fault if he did not share the same enthusiasm as Kou.
“I’m not looking forward to my wedding.” mumbled Akihito softly. His black haired friend caught his sentence.
“I’m sorry.” apologised Kou giving his best friend a look of sympathy upon realising what he meant. After that, he playfully hit Akihito’s shoulder, trying to cheer him up. “Hey, no worries, buddy. Like I said before, who knows that someday there will be a knight in shining armour who will rescue the princess from the bad, evil prince.”
Akihito smiled sadly. I am sorry Kou. But unlike in those fairytales, I will not be saved. No one is there for me.

Asami had just arrived at his penthouse after a long day of work, which included threatening, legal business, and getting rid of pests. Following his normal routine, he had taken shower before he made himself comfortable on the sofa with a glass of bourbon in his hand. His mind kept replaying that day three weeks ago when he kind of forced himself on Akihito. Even thought Asami prepared the boy properly, he must’ve still felt pain. As proof, there were still the red marks on his back caused by Akihito’s nails. Asami did regret a bit for forcing him to have sex, however, the thought of someone else’s marks to remain on the younger man’s body just boiled him. Hence, he made sure to replace all of them with his own although deep down he realised that by doing so, he actually sacrificed the closing distance between each other.
Asami chuckled upon reminiscing about it. That was just the way he was, someone who was possessive of what or in this case who belonged to him. Simply getting rid of Koga Ouji without any plan was simply reckless and stupid move. Ouji’s father, Koga Nao was a long acquaintance of him and even though Asami did help him financially to build the Koga Enterprises, the man himself was not to be looked down for. He could be cunning and dangerous if he wanted to, especially if it involved his son. He’d rather not involve Koga Nao in his plan. However, if it was the only way to make the cute, little bride his alone, then he would gladly use any means to accomplish it. Currently, he had instructed Kirishima, his secretary to find every loop holes in Koga Enterprises. Until his plan was completely perfect, he had to be a patient man.
In the meantime, Asami smirked, he could arrange something to deepen his and his soon-to-be bride’s relationship.

The next day...
Akihito had been eyeing his phone for the last five minutes or so. He was feeling uncertain whether to call his home. He exhaled. It is my fault to begin with that’s caused my family suffer. Stupid pride. The least I can do is to ask whether they’re okay or not. With that determination in mind, Akihito dialled the number.
“Hello.” A voice responded. Well, at least it’s my younger brother who answered the phone.
“Hi, Ari. It’s me.”
“Nii-san? Wow, it has been a while. How are you?”
“I’m okay. Same always,” Akihito lied. For once, he was not really okay but of course he could not tell Arihiro that. “What about you, Mom, and Dad? After all, you guys, you know...” Akihito found it hard to complete the sentence. It was his fault that their father got a large pay cut from the company.
“Ah, we’re fine really. It takes time, but we’re adapting to the situation.” reassured Arihiro. “I’ve gotten myself a part time job to earn for my own pocket money. It’s a great experience actually. I can feel myself being independent, Nii-san.”
“That’s great, Ari. Hey, I’m wondering. Is there anything I can do to help you guys out? You know, it doesn’t matter whether it’s financially or not. It can be anything.” said Akihito. He felt a pang of guilt in his stomach for adding a burden to his family.
“Nah, we’re okay. Don’t worry, Nii-san. Remember what Dad always said when we were young? We, Takaba, are tough and we’re fighters.” Akihito giggled at his brother’s attempt to mimic what their father used to tell them both long times ago.
“Hahaha, you sound like Dad when you said that.”
“No, I don’t.” pouted Arihiro.
“The reason I’m calling home is because I’m worried. I’m kinda relieved now knowing you, Mom, and Dad are okay.” Akihito explained. He was startled when he heard someone knocking the door. Who’s that? Akihito frowned. “Sorry, Ari. It seems someone’s at the door. So yeah, I’ll see you next time. Take care.”
“Yup, you too Nii-san!” As soon as the call ended, Akihito stood up and walked towards the door. He found a familiar pair of golden eyes staring at him once he opened the door. Akihito slammed the door shut or tried to as the so-called guest used his expensive Italian leather shoe to prevent the door from closing fully. He easily pushed the door open before he invited himself him. Akihito pinched the bridge of his nose. He scowled at the man who was becoming more of a nuisance than Ouji.
“What do you want?!” Akihito scowled.
“That’s not the correct way to treat your guest, Akihito.”
“You’re not my guest so I can treat you as whatever I want.” Replied Akihito defiantly. He would give anything to erase that smirk off his handsome face. Wait, did I just think of this jerk as handsome!? Arggghh, pull yourself together Akihito. You can’t let this jerk to keep manipulating you.
He glared at Asami. “I asked you a question.” Seeing the younger man standing so close to him, Asami could not help but have a taste of the sultry mouth again. Akihito yelped when an arm pulled him towards the man’s chest. And before he could protest, Asami smothered him with a kiss which involved tongue fighting and sucking. Damn, why must this bastard be a good damn kisser? shouted Akihito somewhere in his dizzy mind. Asami only released Akihito’s mouth when they both in need of oxygen. Seeing Akihito’s swollen, red lips and half closed lids satisfied the older man. With their lips only inches apart, Asami finally revealed the reason of his visit.
“I am taking you out on a date, my cute Akihito.”
