I just looked at the tv schedule for Cartoon Network. Almost nothing is good on. What happened to my childhood?
Quick look of a normal day:
New Transformers (so-so)
Bakugan (bad)
Ben 10 (alright)
Johnny Test (meh)
Pokemon Diamond & Pearl (Okay)
George of the Jungle (Eww)
Baby Loony Toons (I enjoy this more than George of the Jungle, sadly)
Pup named Scooby Doo (so-so)
Movie: Land Before Time 12 (12? Seriously?)
Tom & Jerry (if I wanted this, I'd get Boomerang)
hour of Skunk Fu (I can't watch more than a couple minutes)
Mucha Lucha (Probably the best thing on today, though episodes are hit and miss)
Chop Socky Chooks (right up there with Skunk Fu)
Chowder (has potential, admittedly)
6Teen (haven't watched it, but it looks like a chick show)
hour of Johnny Test (as if one episode wasn't enough today)
hour of Camp Lazlo (Pretty good)
Robotboy (hit and miss, more misses than hits for me)
Courage the Cowardly Dog (if they bring back old shows, why not more popular ones?)
Foster's (Currently CN's best original Cartoon Cartoon)
hour of Johnny Test (SERIOUSLY? We couldn't have Powerpuff Girls or Johnny Bravo, but instead ANOTHER hour of Test?)
6Teen (You'd think they'd have something with a little more substance for a primetime slot, like an action show.)
all rapped up with Total Drama Island (So-so plot, but horrible animation. Wonchop is a better Flash animator.)
It's sad when there's only about 3 good shows in the entire day, not counting Adult Swim. But even counting adult swim there's about 3 shows I watch there so that's 6 shows in 24 hours. Now let's look at Nick.
Fairly Oddparents (great)
Back to the Barnyard (ew)
hour of Spongebob (pretty good)
I'll skip through Nick Jr., though some shows are admittedly kinda cute.
Spongebob (still good)
Fairly Oddparents (still great)
Mighty B (not my favorite Nicktoon, but not unwatchable)
two hours of Spongebob (okay, we're starting to rely too much on Spongebob)
hour of Back to the Barnyard (some people may like this, but I'm not into it)
hour of Drake and Jose (pretty good, I like them)
iCarly (so-so, Amanda's a good actress but I like Drake and Josh better)
and last show before Nick-at-Nite is Spongebob (3 and a half hours of spongebob seems like a lot. At least spread the two hours part around, or give us an hour of Avatar instead)
Nick has a better lineup but not as varied as CN. I do wish these networks would use some of their old shows now and then. I realize they might be thinking newer means it's better, but Spongebob, obviously one of Nick's highest rated shows, is like 8 years old or something like that. I think they could stand to bring in some of their toons that used to be really popular. I'd suggest Hey Arnold.
As long as I'm ranting about cartoons, one more thing. Pokemon should go back to 4Kids. The new voices are alright, and I've gotten used to it, but it just isn't the same. I gotta commend the new Jessie voice though, it's pretty close.
Eh, I'll keep going until I feel like stopping. BRING BACK TOONAMI, DANG IT. In its early years it had the best stuff on tv. The BEST stuff. It's the only thing that could save CN of its bad schedule now.
I kinda want to see a new Avatar plot. I know, Aang defeated the fire lord and everything is hunky dory now, but it's easily Nick's best show. If only there was some new evil lord to defeat, or maybe it could take place in the future with a new generation of benders. The world of Avatar has so many possiblities. It might not be as good as the original, but hey, if they can come up with a good plot, it's possible. I mean, Toy Story 2 was as good if not better than the first, so good sequals exist.
...That is all.
