Long lost update/Spiderman 3 review

Sorry-- Just haven't felt like writing lately. At least I'm saving you from my political rantings, etc. :)

The new position at work just started, and that's going fairly well. Well, really all I've done so far is move my desk and deal with a few various issues. I think my trepidation regarding the gig (mainly my fear that I need more technical training) is being counterbalanced by my sense of adventure and general smartness when it comes to research, not to mention all the rest of the benefits of the gig -- more flexible hours (although it's likely to be more hours total), working with very cool people, etc.

Aside from that, I've just been living life. My birthday was last week, and I got to hang out with some friends friday night for that while they bought me a various assortment of porters (I dunno why I was in a dark beer mood that night). It was a blast.

I saw Spiderman 3 on Sunday. Without ruining any of the major plot points, etc, here's my take:

It was okay. Some of it was laugh-out loud funny, like the scene with Bruce Campbell. His best showing in Spiderman yet. The SFX were terrific, especially the Sandman stuff.

There was alot of unevenness, tho. I thought the symbiote-influenced Parker looked like an emo kid. The strutting around and jazz club scene were particularly bad...I wondered whether I'd walked into a sequel for The Mask. Kirsten Dunst was decent. Her character seemed pretty flat, although some of that might have just been where Mary Jane was at the time. She didn't really
pull it off.

Definitely not as good as the first two.
