Pan's Labyrinth Review

It's really nothing like what I expected. Guillermo del Toro has made a fantasy movie that does more to reinforce the reality that the characters lived in at the tail end of the Spanish Civil War than to create a sense of wonder and delight, which is your typical fantasy fare. It's really a movie you have to see to get the full experience. It's a very, very intense movie, particularly the scene that I have dubbed "The scene that would be right at home in a Tool video". I would suggest you see it, although it's a pretty hard 'R' rating, chock full of gun and other violence and genuinely terrifying scenes. Obviously leave the kids at home.
