For some reason I dislike listing stuff that happened, which is pretty much what this journal entry is going to be. Ugh. Well, let's get it over with.
I've now been in the Bay area for almost a week, and living in my room (in Oakland) for a little less than that. Oakland--definitely not the sexiest part of the Bay area. It is, I will admit, growing on me. So far I've made it north of here and walked around Berkley, south of here to the edges of Castro. I dropped by a gallery near Fisherman's warf and saw some lesser painting/sketches by Picasso, Miro, Dali, and some other people. Normally, I don't think that highly of Dali, but there were some illustrations for Alice in Wonderland that he did, which were nice, and also some paintings of fruit. I'm afraid I'm not going to elaborate on those paitings (I suppose they were more prints than paintings).
I also saw my first Robert Wilson play: a production of The Black Rider. It was probably the Wilson play that I've most wanted to see, since it was one (of many) that had music by Tom Waits and the one which had text by Burroughs. For my money, it doesn't get better than Tom Waits and William S. Burroughs. I could say a shitload about the play, in fact I already did that to Melanie, but in short, the first act was ok, the second act was quite good, and I still have no idea whether or not I think Wilson is a fantastic director.
Orientation also occured. Not a great deal to say about that. School starts Tuesday. I'm "outie."
