“Mrs. Tonks?”
Flowers. That’s all that would come to mind. The various colors, scents, textures flooded her brain. When she was small, Nymphadora would let her put flowers in her soft, color changing hair. Andromeda would weave mostly white flowers through the braided loops (white went with every color, after all). She wouldn’t put too many in, though, lest it become too crowded. It always looked lovely, even when Nymphadora was in a bad mood and her hair was muddy colored. The best part, though? Once the flowers were in place, and she had a chance to see for herself, Nymphadora’s hair would rapidly change through many different colors due to her happy emotions. But everything changes. Flowers fade and wilt, and soon enough, Nymphadora wouldn’t let her mother weave them into her hair anymore.
“Mrs. Tonks, did you hear what I said?”
Once, when Nymphadora was in her early teenage years, Andromeda had tried - once again - to place a flower in her hair. In this case, it was a daisy. Nymphadora had declined quite fervently. Though when she caught sight of her mother’s disappointment, she took the daisy and gently placed it behind her mother’s ear. They both smiled.
“Mrs. Tonks? Someone get over here…someone needs to help her-“
Andromeda often caught herself wondering if her daughter ever thought about the flowers, if she ever considered letting her dear mother put flowers in her hair again. Her vision blurred with tears.
She supposed not.
