This goes out to my pretty lady
shigan_lo who made me feel better when I was sad. You inspired me to write this, you'll see why when you read it. Really looking forward to April ;)
“Calliope Iphegenia Torres!” Arizona exclaimed with a challenging voice. “What are you doing to me? Where are we going? Why did I have to pack a suitcase full of clothes? We have to work tomorrow! What is going on?”
“Hun, please” was Callie’s reply. As much as she tried, she wasn’t able to put off the smile that was forming on her lips. Arizona was possibly the most adorable person in the world when she tried to get Callie to do what she wanted with that semi serious expression on her face. True, Callie might be biased on this one, but she just couldn't see how anyone could ever argue with her on that. And win.
“Please, just trust me, ok? Our ride will be here any minute, it’s only…” was as far as she got when they were interrupted by a knock at the door.
“Our ride?! Callie, what the…” Callie raised her hand to silence Arizona. “Not now. I’ll get that” she said. “Got your suitcase ready?”
Arizona went into the bedroom, mumbling to herself, something about always being the one left in the dark, or being the last to know. Callie couldn’t really tell, nevertheless she couldn’t detain herself from smiling when she watched Arizona heading for the bedroom, shaking her head, making her blonde curls bounce with every step.
Arizona was about to grab her suitcase when she heard a familiar voice at the door. What the hell she thought! That can’t be Addison, can it? Yes, this was definitely her voice. Addison Forbes Montgomerry was at their door, talking to her girlfriend. They were whispering and giggling and, she couldn’t be really sure, but she thought she heard Addison ask “Does she know what’s going on?”, and Callie’s muffled response “No, she’s got no clue and I think it’s slowly but steady driving her insane.” They were giggling again.
Arizona silently, and very careful not to make a sound, moved closer to the door to hear what Callie and Addison were talking about.
“Poor Arizona” Addison said “But I guess it’s gonna be worth it.”
“I certainly hope so” Callie replied. “And Addison? I can’t thank you enough for helping me with this one. I owe you big time.”
“Oh, absolutely no big deal at all. I always wanted to go to ….”
“Addison! Shut up!” Callie almost shouted at the redhead. “You don’t want to spoil the surprise now, do you?” she continued, her voice back to whispering again, throwing cautious looks in the direction of the bedroom.
“Uuuh, sorry. I almost ruined that, didn’t I?” Addison shrugged her shoulders, giving Callie an apologetic smile.
“Yeah hah, you almost did.”
“So, are we ready to go?” Addison asked. “Where’s that ridiculously perky girlfriend of yours? Ah, there she is” she exclaimed, when she saw Arizona emerging from the bedroom with her suitcase in hands “Just in time.”
“Just in time for what? Can somebody please show some sense of decency and explain to me already what is going on?!” Arizona wasn’t at all able to hide her anger, let alone her impatience. When it came to dealing with children she had the patience of a saint, but whenever she was involved personally, she became impatient like one of the little kids she treated. Maybe being around kids all day long was rubbing off on her.
Callie and Addison grinned at each other, having difficulties to not show their enjoyment, or burst out into fits of laughter. And that made Arizona even angrier. Callie was quick to realize that and went over to her girlfriend to comfort her.
“Awww, come on. Please, please trust me, ok? I have been working on this surprise for you for weeks now and Addison was kind enough to offer me her help. That’s why she is here. You know, she knows people who know people who know people. Basically she also is ‘people’. I promise you, you will love this. Just trust me a little while longer, will you?”
If Callie had learned something from Arizona, it was how to use her beautiful brown eyes, batting her eyelashes at her and giving her a smile to die for. Callie knew about the effect this was having on Arizona. It was the same effect Arizona’s dimpled smile had on her. So as soon as she had stopped talking Arizona’s face was softening and Callie knew she was save and forgiven. Well, at least for now.
“So are we ready?” Addison asked. When Callie nodded at her she turned around, saying “Ok, I’ll see you two downstairs.”
Callie once again focused all her attention on Arizona. “You ok? I know I am asking a lot of you. But do you think you can be patient for a little while longer?”
Arizona let out a deep sigh. “You know very well that I barely can deny you anything you ask for, Calliope. So what choice do I have?!” Arizona moved closer to her girlfriend. “But” she continued, her voice dropping several octaves into a husky whisper “you better pray I really, really like what you have organized”. Her lips only inches apart from Callie’s ear. “Because, you know, if you displease me...” Arizona’s lips were now gently grazing Callie’s neck “I know many, many ways to punish you.”
With that Arizona grabbed her suitcase, following Addison out the door, leaving a slightly dizzy and aroused Callie behind. Callie swallowed hard. Awesome, she thought, more than 10 hours on a plane ahead of her, and now she was horny as hell. That was going to get interesting. Maybe Addison would fall asleep on the plane and they would have some time to themselves. At that thought a giant smile formed on her face. THAT idea she liked very much. Very much indeed. She followed Arizona out the door making sure it was properly locked.
********************************
In front of their apartment building Callie was faced with a very entertaining image of a very excited Arizona, who was almost bouncing up and down on her feet at the sight in front of her. Callie saw Addison standing next to the limo, laughing and shaking her head while she, too, was very much entertained by Arizona’s excited state of mind.
“Callie!” Arizona exclaimed. “Are we really taking a limo? I have never really been in one before. I always wanted to though. If things will continue like this, I promise I will like everything else, too.”
Arizona’s enthusiasm never failed to amaze Callie. She looked adoringly at her girlfriend and asked herself, not for the first time, how on earth she got so lucky. She really, really loved her with all her heart. And seeing Arizona so excited and thrilled, she knew that all the secret keeping of the last weeks, the late night phone calls with Addison, the meetings with Derek to figure out who could cover their shifts while they were gone, this all had been so worth it.
********************************
“Calliope! Did you really have to blindfold me?” Arizona asked in a whiny voice. “I can’t see where I am going.”
“Well, that kind of is the point, don’t you think?” Callie teased her girlfriend, who was carefully putting one foot in front of the other, her arms stretched out in front of her, trying to avoid possible obstacles she couldn’t see even if they were there.
“Why is it so windy? Where am I? And what’s that noise I’m hearing?” Arizona asked nervously. After they had spend half an hour in the limo Callie all of a sudden had announced that she now had to blindfold Arizona in order to not spoil the surprise. Reluctantly Arizona gave in. But she wasn’t happy, not at all.
“Almost there” was the only response she got from Callie. “Ok, now there will be a few stairs. Ready? There’s the first one.”
“Outch” Arizona winced when she hit her toe on the first step. “Calliope!”
“Almost done, I promise. Only a few more.”
“Good Morning” an unknown male voice said, making Arizona flinch once more, turning her head in the direction from which she thought the unknown voice had come. “Who’s that?” she asked. “Please, Callie, I don’t like this anymore. Pleeeeease take off that blindfold.”
The wind was gone now and the noise she heard before had now definitely softened. They were inside. That much Arizona could tell. But inside what? And where? She had no idea. When Callie removed the blindfold from Arizona’s eyes the blonde woman blinked twice to accustom her eyes to the light.
Callie was watching her with anticipation, nervously hopping from one foot onto the other. Arizona looked around, clear signs of confusions showing on her face. However, when she realized where she was her eyes widened in shock and disbelief. She turned around herself once, stopping to face her girlfriend.
“Calliope! Are we on a plane?” Callie nodded and opened her mouth to speak, but Arizona beat her to it. “Why are we on a plane? Is this a private jet?!?! And where are we going? And who is this?” she asked when she saw a man standing next to them.
The man smiled at her. “Hi. I am captain Jonathan Smith. I’ll be your pilot for this flight.” He stepped aside, introducing a young woman called Mary as their stewardess for this flight. “Now, if we could all take a seat and we will be ready for take off in no time.” he continued.
“Ready? For take off? Sir, you wouldn’t be able to tell me anything about our destination?” Arizona did have to try, didn’t she?
“Ma’am, I am terribly sorry. But my instructions have been made very clear by those beautiful ladies accompanying you. I would not dare to spoil that surprise for you. And in case you were wondering, your stewardess was briefed with the very same instructions. Nevertheless I wish you a pleasant flight. I will be joining my co-pilot in the cockpit now if you don’t mind.” With that Captain Jonathan Smith turned around, heading for the cockpit.
“Well then”, Addison said with a devilish smile on her face, “I guess we all take a seat now. I can’t wait to get to where ever it is we are going to.”
“Mean.” was Arizona’s reply. For now she decided to just let it go. Maybe she could find out later.
