Infections and ice and snow, oh my!

Feb 15, 2007 12:13

I went to the doc's yesterday (in the ice and snow) and got a prescription for Amoxicillin to kill the infection that's in my head. Dr K says he's seen a lot of these lately and that amox seems to be effective in killing them.

I didn't have as much trouble driving on the streets yesterday as I did trying to park at the Rite Aid, whose parking lot was just beginning to be plowed when I got there at about 11:00. I didn't realise it hadn't been plowed right away. But when I drove down the aisle and got hung up on snow, I noticed. I still tried, in my head-full-of-goo / exhausted from not enough sleep / oh yeah I'm sick brain, to park twice before giving up and going round to park behind the pizza place. Well, over near there. My ABS trouble light was lit, but I hoped that was because I'd tried to park in snow too deep for my car and the brakes had got gummed up with snow. A guy came out and looked at me as I was getting out of my car and I said, "Is it okay if I park here? I need to go to the pharmacy." He kinda just shrugged and said, "Sure." So I walked, carefully, over to the pharmacy and waited around while they filled my 'script. When I came out and started the car again, the ABS light went out. Phew. I almost didn't get into my driveway due to the iciness. I put SuDoy in the garage straight away, so the ice and ... well, it was about all ice actually ... could melt off him. And then I stayed home.

I was able to paint a bit in my new Moleskine watercolour notebook with my new German opaque watercolours. Awesome. They're so vibrant. I love them. Compared to the others (which I suspect are translucent and came from the dollar aisle at Weis Markets) they're so beautiful. I still like the other ones, and I'll keep using them. Now I have two different styles of watercolour paints (until this past weekend's trip to Dick Blick I'd no idea there were opaques and translucents).

In other news, I participated in another disastrous pillage run by O., one of our officers in my crew on Viridian on Puzzle Pirates. He told us to abandon ship and that after he limped her home he was going to go practise battle navigation with the navy. I feel bad for him. He seems like such a nice guy. But this is why I won't lead pillies yet; I ain't ready.
