Tomorrow will bring another critique group meeting and will also provide me with my third set of comments on my novel. I'm nervous all over again, just as much as the first time, because I did so much editing (er, cutting) prior to this round. I'm hoping that the story has retained all of the tension and necessary sympathy for the MC despite my ever-pecking backspace pinkie. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. I'm hoping to hear that it's still working well because I desperately want my mother to read it and I can get her a copy next weekend. If it's ready, that is. :)
I spent a lot of time working on my new novel the other day and got most of the first chapter written. So far, I'm finding that this process is a lot different (and not just because I'm not writing frantically for NaNo), but because I'm a lot more aware of things. Like back story. Oh delicious background information, you'll stay locked away in the deep dark recesses of my mind for this novel. So help me, god, I will not bog down this story with things that don't matter.
Rawr.
Also, some gore already in the first chapter. I'm not cut out for that. *shudder*
